Inclusive education: how a tutor helps a special child learn in an ordinary school
Three or four years ago, schools disowned special children under any pretext. And today, it seems to me that the presence of inclusive classes becomes even prestigious, mdash; says psychologist and tutor Irina Bilyk.
UaUa.info discussed with Irina how the tutor helps make an inclusive environment comfortable for the child, his teacher and classmates. And what is needed is that everyone benefits from inclusive education.

and what is his role in class
Since this year, our education has become inclusive. Children with visual, hearing, musculoskeletal, neurological and mental disorders are now included in regular classes.
The benefits are obvious. Special children learn to live in a society. They feel that they are part of it, not outcasts, they are developing in development to ordinary children. Their classmates realize that the other person’s unlikeness is mdash; this is normal. They become more open, penetrated by the spirit of mutual aid.
Contact tutor can give a specialist who oversees a special child. Charitable organizations, foundations, such as the Association of Parents of Children with Autism, can also tell where to go.
The state, alas, does not yet prepare tutors. So far, we are looking for programs ourselves, adapting them to our realities, we try to train those who wish, we help to improve qualifications.
It is important to improve qualification, because children with different types of disorders require a different approach.
I, for example, work with autistic children. Therefore, in addition to basic medical and psychological education, I pass the course of applied behavior analysis (ABA). This technique is used in the work with autism spectrum disorder and other conditions.
Ideally, the tutor works in conjunction with a behavioral analyst who oversees his ward from the moment of diagnosis. The analyst knows the possibilities of the child, helps to build the work correctly, can evaluate and correct the results.
Best for the role of a tutor suitable teachers, psychologists, correctional teachers, speech therapists. But a single-minded student can also cope. The main thing is that it is a seeker, an attentive and punctual person.
We plan to work with high school students so that they know what kind of children they are studying at their school. Of course, not all of us will understand. There will be giggling, and tapping your fingers, it will all be. But we will work with this.
Children in our class are already much kinder and more aware of special children than their peers. They see when it is necessary to help, they themselves stand in a couple, take by the hand, lead to the dining room at us now food, or help to accomplish something at a lesson.
But it was not immediately: it is a gradual process.
This year, too, we will talk about this topic, watch cartoons together. Children value such confidential communication.
They ask: Why is he like that? , and we tell everything as it is. It happened: he was born, then fell ill. It's hard for him, but he tries very hard. Yes, he talks badly, but he runs fast, or he collects puzzles well.
He has his own characteristics, but he is the same child as them: he eats, sings songs, does homework, he has a birthday, he also rejoices or cries.
