Stomatitis in infants: is there any danger?

Inflammatory reactions, manifested in the oral cavity and spreading to the surface of the sky, cheeks and gums, are called stomatitis. It is a disease that affects not only a child’s weakened body, but is also diagnosed in adulthood.

In children, stomatitis manifests itself in the form of redness of the mouth, swelling and bleeding. In almost all cases, the disease is painful, which contributes to the constant crying of the baby.

The stomatitis of the baby is formed due to many factors and causes, we will talk more about them.

Stomatitis in infants

Disease of the oral cavity has three types, which are divided for reasons of the formation of the disease. So, in medicine, the types of stomatitis have the following names:

  1. Candidiasis. It is the most common type that occurs among newborns. The main causative agent is Candida fungus, which enters the oral cavity together with poor-quality food.

Fungi Candida have one feature: they can be in the mouth for children for a long time and at the same time do not show any signs. Candidial stomatitis occurs due to a decrease in the protective function of the immune system, thus the first symptoms appear in the child.

Candidiasis is also called fungal, which is the following negative manifestations in the child:

– redness of the mouth;

All these signs cause pain in the baby, as a result of which the parents observe a constant crying and whims. Candidiasis can be transmitted both during childbirth and in subsequent cases.

  • Herpes. In children before the year is very rare this form of the disease. Most often, children under the age of one and three years old are at risk from infection. The main causative agent is a specific herpes virus, transmitted by the airborne pathway. The herpes form extends throughout the cavity, forming small bubbles. If the disease becomes acute, the skin of the face is often affected.
  • Aphthous. Precise information about the pathogen is not available, and indeed this species is less studied. Scientists suggest that aphthous stomatitis in children occurs due to allergic reactions of the body to various substances. Rarely occurs in children under one year old, and more often occurs at the age of 6 years.
