Otitis in the baby
Otitis is an inflammation of the ear. There are three types of this disease: the external, middle ear and inner. Most often you have to deal with the average, especially if the disease is diagnosed in the child.
Otitis is diagnosed more than in 50% of babies. The most common disease occurs in children after six months and under the age of 12 months. The most important part of the inner and middle ear is the Eustachian tube. It is necessary to connect the nasal cavity with the auditory organ. Otitis in the baby is due to the fact that when a liquid accumulates in the nasal cavity of the liquid, a blockage of the Eustachian tube occurs due to the ingress of part of the contents. The frequency of the disease is related to the peculiarities of the ear structure in children, and also because the child spends most of the time horizontally. Otitis in children is divided into two types:
- catarrhal inflammation – not accompanied by secretions from the ear;
- purulent – pus or fluid is released from the ear.
It should be borne in mind that the otitis does not go away by itself and requires treatment. In advanced cases, the disease can lead to serious health problems and even to the disability of the baby.
