Night feeding: to what age

For the newborn, night feeding is a completely normal process. The child is still small, it needs to grow and gradually gain weight, so that frequent night-feeding is fully justified.

As for older children, it’s more difficult with them. It would seem that the baby is not one month old, he begins to eat adult food, walk slowly, it means that you can not breastfeed. But it seems so only at first glance. The main task for breastfeeding children more than a year is to provide the baby with enough breast milk after a day’s activity. After all, it is at this time in the body that the woman produces the most prolactin. This hormone is responsible for the active production of milk, especially in the first month. In addition, the frequent suckling of the breast by the child stimulates the production of this hormone in the future, that is, if you fed the baby at night, then during the day the milk will be exactly for you.

Until the child fully began to eat adult food and did not reach the age of life, rejection of breast milk will lead to the loss of the baby’s primary energy source.

Important! There are no rules regulating after what age a child needs to be transferred to a mixture or disaccustomed to a night meal at all. Refusal of the GW always occurs individually, it can happen in 1 month or a year.

Important! Do not add sugar to the water or the mixture with artificial feeding. It is also not recommended to use sweet juices for this purpose.

Night feeding: to what age

If you use a mixture for feeding, then a night break between meals should be present. During the first weeks of life, this break should be at least 6 hours. For children aged 3 months, the break after the last feeding should be at least 8-10 hours.

In principle, most regularly consuming mixture of children adapt themselves to the appropriate diet. But there are exceptions.

Important! You must understand that hunger is not the only reason that a baby wakes up in the middle of the night.

Most often these children are interested not in the mixture itself, but in the satisfaction of the sucking reflex. After that, the baby quickly falls asleep. If you are sure that the crumb is not exactly hungry, then the nutritional mixture can be completely replaced with a pacifier or water.
