Whether it is possible for pregnant women mint?

The ancient Greeks called this fragrant stalk of Aphrodite’s grass, and the Romans actively used it as a cosmetic and refreshing remedy. Mint is one of the oldest medicinal plants known to mankind. Avicenna also noted her ability to stop internal bleeding, to treat stomach diseases and headaches. Mint was widely used by our ancestors during pregnancy to soothe and relieve the feeling of nausea. Today, infusion of fragrant leaves of this plant is considered the best folk remedy against toxemia and increased anxiety. However, the benefits of mint for women during pregnancy are not so unambiguous.

Not many people know that the habitual plant has more than twenty species, each of which has special properties. Some are used exclusively in cosmetology, others – in cooking, others – mainly in the pharmaceutical industry. The undoubted favorite among all of them is peppermint (Mentha piperita). During pregnancy, expectant mothers often use it as a natural remedy for fighting morning bouts of nausea. This kind of mint is used as a part of tea gathering, candy, confectionery sweets, chocolate.

As a medicine, the Aphrodite herb helps with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, improves digestion, relieves spasms, is used as an antiemetic, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial agent externally and internally, has a soothing and anti-stress effect. The benefits of mint tea for colds, colic and migraines are known to all mothers and grandmothers.

It helps with spasms of the stomach and nausea attacks mint broth. For this, a tablespoon of crushed leaves of the plant is poured into two glasses of water and kept on fire until boiling. After ten minutes, the broth is turned off and left under the lid for a quarter of an hour, then filtered. Drink it to 60 ml several times a day before meals. However, pregnant women as a tea better to confine themselves to mint infusions, and the decoction should be used as a cosmetic lotion-tonic.

The use of peppermint can become during pregnancy an excellent substitute for chemical tablets and sweets. The main thing is moderation and reasonable approach to your body and health.
