Mastitis in nursing: symptoms

In the first months after childbirth, women have such a problem as inflammation of the breast. Mastitis in a nursing mother makes it almost impossible to breast-feed a child because of severe pain and discomfort. Therefore, when the first symptoms of the disease should immediately consult a doctor and begin treatment of the problem.

Mastitis is a serious disease. Its causes are bacteria that get into the gland through the blood, because the body is weakened after delivery, and also if there are chronic diseases or a predisposition to their appearance. This provokes a breast enlargement, and eventually the appearance of cracks in the skin, through which a repeated infection with the infection can occur, complicating the treatment. As a result, lactostasis may appear on the background of mastitis – stagnation of milk. He can also become the cause of the disease.

  1. Serous mastitis. This is the first stage of the disease, during which the woman raises the temperature to 38-39 degrees. The breast increases and starts to hurt, the state of health worsens.
  2. Infiltrative mastitis. At this stage, a seal appears in the chest (a pebble). It does not have clear boundaries, but when touched, it responds with severe pain. Swelling is increased.
  3. Purulent mastitis. Gradually, a soft area appears in the center of the seal. The chest strongly hurts when pressing, and under the focus of the lesion appears a liquid interlayer. The temperature can rise above 40 degrees Celsius. The child refuses milk.

The general condition is greatly deteriorating. The chest hurts at the slightest movement, including when walking.
