Lactostasis in nursing mothers
The process of breastfeeding is one of the most pleasant and wonderful moments. But, unfortunately, often young mothers face problems that complicate the process of feeding. Such a disease as lactostasis can bring trouble, both to mom and her baby.
Speaking of such a disease as lactostasis, you need to consider its origin. This will in some cases prevent its occurrence. Knowing the causes of lactostasis, you can avoid mistakes and thereby save yourself.
The female breast is arranged in such a way that during the feeding the milk gradually comes to the child. This process is stimulated by the child himself, thanks to the sucking reflex. Milk passes through the ducts of the mammary gland to the nipple and then it already enters the baby, or is expressed.
But, unfortunately, there is a risk that the usual promotion of milk can be disrupted. This will lead to stagnation of milk in the ducts and, thereby, cause lactostasis in the nursing mother. With lactostasis, a blockage is formed in the duct, which causes unpleasant sensations to the mother, and the child can be deprived of normal nutrition.
Why is the progress broken and stagnant milk formed? Many factors influence this process and many depend on the nursing mother. Most of the reasons that can cause lactostasis in a nursing mother can be avoided. But sometimes it does not depend on the mother and it is very important to pay attention to the symptoms in time.
