Constipation in infants with mixed feeding: what to do?
The digestive system of a newborn baby in the first months of life is only tuned to a new way of eating. And problems with the tummy is not so rare. According to statistics, difficulties with the gastrointestinal tract occur more often in infants with mixed and artificial feeding than in children breastfed. But this does not mean that the babies completely avoided difficulties. Calmness of their tummies also depends on many factors.
Mixed food is a method of feeding when a child receives both breast milk and a milk formula. In most cases, this is due to insufficient milk from the mother and the acute need for supplementation. But breast milk must necessarily be greater or even equal.
When a child defecates from one to eight times a day, it is considered normal. But if the baby can not clean the intestines for more than two days, while experiencing unpleasant sensations and pain, one should suspect constipation.
With this problem it will be best to contact a pediatrician who observes the child. The doctor will advise how to help the baby and avoid repetition. Rarely constipation can be a symptom of serious diseases and disorders.
