Atopic dermatitis in infants: treatment
About possible allergic reactions in infants, mothers hear long before the birth of the baby – even when visiting a women’s consultation, women are advised not to abuse certain products, and accentuate that after the birth of the karapuza, these products will need to be excluded for a while at all. That’s why moms closely monitor the skin condition of their babies, and are very worried about the appearance of dermatitis – allergic skin inflammation.
Since any non-infectious rash is usually perceived as an allergy to a particular product, moms immediately try to identify the culprit. Identify the allergen can not immediately, and without consulting a doctor, even the strictest diet does not always bring a positive result. This situation is associated with a variety of causes that can cause dermatitis, and to successfully treat the baby, these reasons need to be determined.
Since in almost all types of dermatitis the main symptoms coincide, it is not easy to distinguish them independently from parents. The most common cause of anxiety are:
- harassing baby itch
- redness of the skin and dry plaques that appear on the cheeks, in the area of the flexural surfaces of the hands and feet, behind the ears, in the armpits and in the groin
- eczematous eruptions, which can be transformed into erosive erosion.
When contact dermatitis eliminates washing powder (replaced by household soap) and synthetic clothing, hypoallergenic shampoo and cream are selected.
Contrary to popular belief about the need for a diet for any skin rashes, in atopic dermatitis, only 10% of the patients are shown a diet (this amount of food has been associated with food allergies), and diaper nutrition does not affect diaper nutrition.
With contact dermatitis, the doctor prescribes weak local corticosteroids (ointment, cream), and its severe forms and allergic dermatitis in the baby usually requires the use of antihistamines.
When treating rashes on the face and head with corticosteroids, you can use only the weakest means, which are applied no more often than 2 times a day.
