A year ago, cocoa butter became my cosmetic discovery. This is a natural useful product, and also very pleasant! And versatile: I use face, body and hair oil.
From gods to lipstick
The birthplace of the cocoa tree is South America. And Europe, of course, knew nothing about the tree or its fruits until the 16th century. The conquistadors liked the cocoa that the Aztecs drank, and so the fruits of the cocoa trees fell into the Old World.
The botanists of that time called the Theobroma plant or the food of the gods new to them, so impressed by their taste and aroma of its fruits. And yes, for 300 years chocolate and cocoa were tasted in Europe only by the elect, namely, the kings of Spain and France.
But cocoa butter in medicine began to be used in the 18th century. And for the production of cosmetics, by the way, too. And you thought, what did you do before lipstick? It is from solid cocoa butter, to which dyes are added.
If almond oil is suitable for dry skin, and grape seed oil is oily, then cocoa butter is simpler – it is universal, for all types and very effective for rejuvenation.
Oil nourishes, softens, tones. It helps to regenerate noticeably: it removes traces of acne, minor skin injuries and stretch marks with weight fluctuations and pregnancy. And it is very well absorbed and protects the skin from the sun, wind and frost.
Use the oil in its pure form or added to the finished cosmetics.
I liked Ukrainian cocoa butter Aromatika. The batter is in a heavy bank of dark glass, the bank was in a box with annotation. The volume of product is 50 ml, the price is about 300 rubles.
The annotation says that in order to use the jar it is necessary to put it in a water bath so that the oil melts. But I do not do that. I don’t use it all at once, and I think that frequent smelting does not benefit him. Therefore, I hollow out the right amount of oil (yes, it is very dense!) With a teaspoon.
Balsam, masks and massage tiles
First, I tried cocoa butter as a lip balm. I liked the effect – the lips were soft and smooth. Then she made a course of masks under the eyes, the skin became more elastic, the crow’s feet ran away. As a cuticle cream the product did not go – did not see the effect.
When actively using the iron for the hair, made a mask of melted butter on the ends of the hair. The oil is washed off easily, the hair is very sweaty and soft. I tried to melt and do foot massage with oil. It seemed too fat.
But then I found an interesting option for a massage: the oil melted, poured into a rosette form for ice, dropped a couple of drops of orange essential oil there. When the whole thing froze out, the massage tiles came out – that’s just bliss to use!
And the last experiment: I made a colored lip balm with cocoa butter. I melted the stick of dry lipstick and the same amount of cocoa butter on a water bath in one bowl, mixed it and poured it into a jar of eye cream.
