According to the doctors, the maxillary sinuses of the nose are fully formed only by 7 years. So young children can not have sinusitis, but they have such a bad disease as sinusitis.
What is it? This is an inflammation of the paranasal sinuses. There are 4 of them in humans. They are covered with mucous membrane and filled with air. Depending on which sinuses are inflamed, this disease has different names – antritis, sinusitis, or ethmoiditis.
Like we have?
Most often, a common ORZ or ARVI is accompanied by symptoms such as a runny nose, cough, and fever.
So here we have any cold or hypothermia immediately leads to a cold. And it can be separately from other symptoms. We runny nose quite often, especially during seasonal diseases.
When the son was 1 month old, we underwent a procedure – a sounding of the tear channel. So then the doctors told us that we have very narrow nasal passages, and we will suffer from a cold. And indeed it is.
But more recently, I listened to a completely different point of view from one doctor. He says that you have an infection or a virus that gets into your nose and is delayed there due to narrow nasal passages. And with timely treatment does not fall below (bronchi and lungs), and you only get rid of a cold.
What are the main signs of sinusitis?
1) Strong nose. Very often there is nasal congestion on one side only.
2) Snot yellow or yellow-green. This means a purulent process in the nose.
3) Kids complain of a headache.
4) A dry cough appears and lasts more than 10 days.
General recommendations for sinusitis
1) You can not walk in cold weather, it is better to sit at home.
2) It is very good to give the child warm drinks, as well as inhalation. My favorite is inhalation from sage, chamomile and calendula. You make these herbs and let the baby breathe. We use a nebulizer.
3) If the temperature rises, then need antipyretics.
I cannot give you specific answers to this question. I will offer you several options, and you decide which one is more acceptable for you.
We are now treating sinusitis like this. First drip antimicrobial drug. We use albucid diluted 1: 1 with water. But you can also use Protargol, Izofru or Collargol. Next, wash the nose with saline, and then drip Euphorbium or Delufen. We also drink Sinupret or Tsinabsin tablets, which remove the runny purulent character better than the same complicated drops.
2) Treatment using vasoconstrictor drugs.
We had only a few cases when laying the nose, so that the son can not breathe through it. Then it is better to use vasoconstrictor drops, but not more than 3 days. This may be Nazivin, Naphthyzinum, Galozolin. And along with them, use antimicrobials (the same as in paragraph 1) and rinsing the nose with saline.
This option is very fond of our ENT doctors, but I don’t like him at all. Of course, if the disease is already at an advanced stage and lasts for more than 10-14 days, then you should probably use this advice.
Doctors prescribe in the nose drops on the basis of antibiotics, as well as antibiotics inside. Most often this Augmentin, Summamed, Amoxiclav.
I really want our children to be less sick. But I understand that not everything depends on the parents. Therefore, whatever treatment option you choose, the main thing is that it should be fully appointed or approved by a doctor you trust.
Sinusitis is a disease that, if delayed in treatment, can give a lot of complications, such as otitis. So do not delay the treatment.
Health to you and your children.
