Our local doctor is a woman, on the one hand, pleasant, calm and respected, but on the other hand, sometimes you can see some indifference behind her calmness, or something.
I want to note that I have no doubts about her level of professionalism. This is confirmed even by the fact that she has one and a half times more children in the area (they switched from others on the initiative of their parents).
I do not think that having access to the Internet automatically equates anyone who can read with the level of medical workers. But the availability of information in the public domain obliges conscious mothers to know a little more than the school course of anatomy.
For example, last year with a control analysis for the presence of antibodies to helminths, for a daughter, the result fell into the doubtful category. The doctor, with her usual calmness, wrote to the child a course of treatment just in case. By the way, anthelmintic drugs are very toxic (otherwise they would not kill worms).
I said that if the parasites were in the body, basophils would be elevated in the KLA. Apparently, remembering this, the doctor said that in this case, the drugs should not be taken, and in general, if you know about this, why did you come to me ?.
Due to the fact that my daughter rarely gets sick, we don’t really communicate with a pediatrician. For help for the kindergarten I go to the clinic without a child. And those diseases that we had got on the weekend, and we used the services of ambulance.
For nearly four weeks, the daughter coughed. At the same time, we were under the careful control of a pediatrician, who listened to the child for a long time every 3-4 days. I didn’t have much to worry about, because the temperature was not elevated, my throat was not red, each entry in the card confirmed that there was no wheezing.
A lot of drugs were tried, some were temporarily relieved, others had no effect. By the fourth week of regular trips to the clinic, my patience began to dry out and we went to a private laboratory to pass the KLA and OAM.
My maternal intuition did not let me down – the ESR of my daughter was significantly increased. And this, as we know, is the first indicator of the inflammatory process in the body. Having barely survived the night, we ran to the polyclinic.
Just that day, our pediatrician’s appointment was scheduled for the evening, but I needed my daughters to take an X-ray. With great efforts, with the involvement of the head of the preschool department, we still managed to obtain consent for an x-ray. By the way, before the procedure, the daughter listened to 3 pediatricians, but no one heard anything suspicious, all the recommendations were reduced to herbal teas.
Apparently, the manager decided that it was easier to give in to me, and gave the go-ahead to the picture, even to two. My efforts were not in vain, because according to their results, my daughter had sinusitis and pneumonia.
If your panic has actual confirmations (in my case these were tests), then do not hesitate to ask and demand proper attention to your child. Again, the fact that the diseases were not diagnosed before X-rays is not at all the fault of the doctors. My relative works as a pulmonologist, and I constantly hear stories from her that many doctors, even in their children, do not hear pneumonia.
In any case, it is good that it ends well and the appropriate treatment was given to the daughter. After all, the correct diagnosis is almost half of the successful treatment. It’s one thing when there is a suspicion, and another thing when there are pictures in which even the picture of a person without medical education is more than clear.
And you take the initiative in a relationship with a pediatrician?
