Streptoderma is a skin disease that is characterized by pink spots in the form of flat blisters on the skin of a child. There are severe cases when the rash covers the whole body, fortunately, the daughter and her friends got off quite easily.
In the summer, our whole peer-three-year company was at a children’s birthday. After that, many guests in turn began to show symptoms of this disease. At first, my daughter had 2 flat blisters on her palm (up to 2 mm in diameter), very similar to the trail from a nettle bite or an insect. There were no more symptoms. The rash does not itch and does not bother the child.
I took the child to the pediatrician to confirm or deny the likelihood of chickenpox. The doctor said that it was definitely not chickenpox, but the rash was more like a burn, or an allergy, and sent to a dermatologist.
The next day, the number of pimples increased to 7-9. At the same time, three more children had a similar situation. With the whole company we went to the ARCS (dermatovenerologic dispensary), where the doctor made a diagnosis at a glance.
The doctor also added that the disease is not transmitted from child to child, and the source of infection is one common place with which all the sick have been in contact. Disease-causing bacteria like a wet environment. And here we remembered that the little ones at the birthday party were decorated with one brush – apparently, the source was she.
It is noteworthy that the rash in children was only on the extremities – the palms and the feet.
The main thing is to minimize the contact of the affected skin with water and lubricate as often as possible with a drying antiseptic Fucorcin (like green paint, only pink, which is important when working with girls) and boric alcohol. In more severe cases, antibiotic therapy is prescribed.
After 5 days, the rash almost disappeared, leaving only pink marks on the skin, and one of her friends – a stain from a spilled bottle of Fucorcin on the floor and upholstered furniture. By the way, it is best to scrub it from the skin of ordinary children’s wet wipes, for hard surfaces effective nail polish remover, but from the tissues, he, alas, practically does not wash off.
That is, already 5 days after the appearance of the first pimple, as a result of a timely visit to the doctor, all patients had a record in their cards. Healthy, they can attend kindergarten.
By the way, adults suffer from streptoderma quite rarely. This usually happens when there is a serious malfunction of the body’s immune system.
You should regularly examine the skin of the child to identify a possible disease as soon as possible. If the rash is not single, and the area of the lesion increases – you should definitely contact a dermatologist to rule out or confirm the disease.
Unfortunately, you can pick up this unpleasant disease anywhere – from wet sand in the sandbox to the pool. Usually, the immune system successfully resists with bacteria, apparently, during this period in some children it was weakened, which became the cause of the disease.
I hope the information will be useful for someone. Have you heard of this disease?
