In our family, everyone suffered from chickenpox except the youngest daughter. The elder woman contracted the disease, as is often the case, in the kindergarten. In the evening, the daughter complained of indisposition and in the morning we called the doctor, who made the diagnosis. But first things first.
What is chicken pox?
Chickenpox or chickenpox is an infectious disease that is transmitted by airborne droplets. Unlike the flu, when it is difficult to determine from whom the child has become infected, the source of this disease most often needs to be sought in cohesive children’s groups. Especially fast the virus spreads in the premises.
If you brought the child to the kindergarten, and there is quarantine for chicken pox, you should not be afraid. Of course, you can leave your baby at home for a while, but we all know that chickenpox is better in childhood. True, we once took the daughter out of the kindergarten because of the quarantine. It was New Year’s Eve, and I did not want her to miss all the holidays.
I was interested to know that this disease has a long incubation period of 1-3 weeks. Only at the end of his child’s temperature rises sharply, and rashes appear on the skin. By the way, we did not notice these rashes in our daughter. So they were busy with the temperature that only the pediatrician paid attention to them.
I also know of such a case. My girlfriend says that she was always very afraid to catch chickenpox, because in childhood she did not get sick. But the most interesting thing is that even when her own children were sick, for some reason she was not infected. Only then her mother remembered that in childhood my friend had a strong allergy, and she went all the time in spots and apparently chicken pox, they took for the usual ARD.
Treatment of chickenpox is not to smear spots of green paint. As such, it does not exist at all. Usually, the task of an adult during the period of illness is only to reduce the unpleasant symptoms (itching and temperature). To do this, you often need to change the bedding, ventilate the room and try not to wet the skin. If the fever rises, you can give the baby antipyretic.
By the way, now not all doctors recommend treating bubbles on the skin with green paint. You can do with a solution of manganese. But we still used this proven tool for disinfection, and my daughter went all green for a long time. It is also recommended to exclude from the diet all allergens, so as not to cause the child even more itching.
If your child has chickenpox, know that a day before the start of the rash, he was contagious and therefore it is worth notifying the mothers of those children with whom he has been in contact. Another 5 days from your child can still be infected, and then in communication it will be possible not to limit.
