I met with conjunctivitis in children when my daughter went to kindergarten. Prior to this, our eyes were always clear, and then suddenly this.
In the morning I was awakened by a frightened cry of a daughter. She complained that she could not open her eyes.
When I approached Lenochka, I saw with horror that the cilia were glued together. I had to wash my eyes for a long time with tea and calm the baby. She complained about the pain in her eyes and constantly tried to scratch them. The light irritated her, her eyes were watering.
Conjunctivitis is an infectious disease, and in the kindergarten children with sore eyes are not accepted. But we got infected there. Probably, the teacher inadvertently accepted into the group a sick child. It was very disappointing, because the morning examination of children is her direct responsibility.
As we later learned, four more kids also got sick. It turned out a little epidemic. Parents of sick kids were unhappy, but everyone understood that this was an accident.
I needed a sick leave. And we went to the pediatrician. At the reception I was told that this is viral conjunctivitis. It can be accompanied by a runny nose and red throat. And indeed, in the evening snot flowed stream.
I had to tinker a lot. The doctor said to change the linen and towels every day, boil everything and iron it on both sides. Wash toys every day with soap. And soft and fluffy friends had to be removed until better times.
This disease can be caused by different factors: viruses, bacteria, fungi. And treatment will depend on the pathogen. And it is possible that this is a manifestation of allergy. I would advise everyone to consult a doctor when the first signs of conjunctivitis appear.
Similar symptoms will occur when a small speck enters the eye, which you may not notice. From her eyes, too, will itch and turn sour. Then the treatment will be completely different.
I am very cautious about eye diseases. Once I blithely reacted to itching in the century, I thought that I would crumble and pass. Then I still had to go to the oculist, and I was given injections in the upper eyelid. And if I pulled more, I would need an operation.
Conjunctivitis in children goes pretty quickly, if properly treated. If the drugs are chosen incorrectly, it can lead to serious complications: chronic conjunctivitis, loss of vision. It is not necessary to drip the baby’s eyes into breast milk, it can become a breeding ground for bacteria.
