Fortunately, my daughter rarely gets sick, so every time it seems to be the first for me – I try to heal intensively in order to prevent complications. After we learned firsthand what sinusitis is in children, I try not to run snot, but this time they were joined by a viral infection.
On Sunday morning we went to church to sanctify the willow (it was Palm Sunday). I was alarmed that my daughter complained several times about the cold, that she didn’t look like her at all, and she was dressed for the weather.
When we returned home, she expressed a desire to lie down, which, again, was not like her. And this is not surprising – by that time the thermometer showed 39.3.
Usually we are sick at the weekend, therefore, the call of the doctor had to be postponed until Monday. In addition to the temperature problems were only with the nose, the throat was completely normal. But at least the discharge has not yet entered the green stage, but it was already quite thick, and it became more and more problematic to blow their nose.
In addition, after suffering from sinusitis in winter, the daughter has a complication – slightly enlarged adenoids, hence the difficulty in breathing through the nose.
The temperature was decided to bring down, the most suitable option for us – paracetamol in the form of candles. Because, for daughter’s weight (22kg), too much syrup is required, and it is so sweet that I am afraid of gagging. Tablets are also suitable, but candles are much faster.
I also introduced an enhanced drinking regimen, especially since it seemed to me that there was a smell of acetone from the baby’s mouth. My fears did not confirm the test strips, but I did not refuse a liter of Regidron per day.
We treated the nose according to the scheme, which was once painted on the ENT. First vasoconstrictor spray, then washing with saline, after this treatment. I used Miramistin (ophtamirin or Okomistin) and Collargol (in addition to antibacterial properties, this drug also helps to reduce adenoids) as therapeutic drugs.
Just in case, for the throat I used Chlorophyllipt in a spray (so that the infection did not fall below) and an antihistamine preparation (to remove the swelling from the nasal cavity).
By the evening of the first day, the temperature fell, but at night it rose again above the mark 39. Again it was necessary to knock down and wait for the doctor’s visit. The pediatrician came to dinner when the temperature was raised slightly (to 38). After listening to the lungs and examining the throat, she confirmed that everything was clear there, ordered continuation of treatment, and indicated the diagnosis of ARVI.
I would like to tell about it in more detail – for the day I forced my daughter to drink about two liters of liquid: a liter of rehydron and a liter of mineral water. Firstly, it is important that the mucous membranes do not dry out, secondly, water is simply necessary at elevated body temperature, thirdly, abundant drinking contributes to the rapid elimination of toxins from the body.
On the third day, the temperature retreated, followed by a little bit of nasal discharge. True, the collargol had to be canceled, because the daughter reacted to it very painfully, and the nasal breathing almost resumed.
Just in case, we sat at home one more day, and then we went outside, especially as the weather improved. Examination of the doctor on the 5th day confirmed that the child is healthy.
Do not rush to buy half the pharmacy to defeat the usual acute respiratory disease, sometimes it is enough to create conditions in which it will be easier for the body to fight the virus. It is not necessary to overload the child’s body with medicines, especially since they all put a strain on the liver, which in preschool children is not yet properly formed.
It is important to comply with bed rest, eliminate abundant and heavy food, do not forget about the correct drinking regime, ventilation and control of the doctor, of course.
I hope my experience will be useful to you. Be healthy!
