For the first time, my daughter met the sea at the age of a little over two years, and it was then that our training in swimming began. Ours is said loudly, I do not swim very well, and in general, I am afraid of water. Therefore, the training took on dad, especially since he has a title in this sport.
With this item we did not work out, because there is no bathroom in our apartment. And hold your breath in the shower uncomfortable. If you have no such problem, you can train your baby to hold his breath under water.
Of course, it is better to transfer training in the form of a game. For example, to sketch on the bottom of the bathroom toys and offer the child to get them. You can also invite your child to imagine himself a pike, which by force of air released from the mouth drives away small fish.
It is also important that the child has no fear of water. Water treatments should be associated with something enjoyable and entertaining. So you can avoid the fear of a large pond. Before the trip to the sea, I told my daughter about him, showed in pictures and cartoons.

Circle – to be or not to be?
Surely inflatable circle – very handy thing, put it on the child and everyone is happy. However, most swimming coaches are against this projectile. The reason is that with the help of a circle the body assumes a vertical position in the water, while for swimming it is necessary to be in a horizontal position. That is, the wrong base was originally laid.
But against armlets and vests arguments are much less. Yes, and they are suitable in order to protect the stay in the water of those children who do not know how to swim and are not going to learn, they just splash. Tip: it is better to choose the sleeves covered with a cloth, they are much nicer and do not scratch the delicate baby skin.

A great helper in the water will be inflatable ball or any other inflatable toy that you can easily grasp. With them you can do the exercise swimming with a support. Its essence is to clasp the support (the ball, for example) to swim with the help of the legs, trying to change the direction while doing so. It is important to show the child various options for leg movements – for example, frogish or doggy.
So, go to the exercises. We came up with the names ourselves, so do not laugh.
I remember how many years ago my brother and I played this game. To do this, you need to get plenty of air in your lungs and sink into the water, clasping your knees. In accordance with the laws of physics, the body floats like a float.
Here everything is clear by name. This exercise will teach a child to float. You can do it lying on your stomach or back, arms and legs should be spread apart.
The essence of this exercise is to teach a child to move on the water with the help of legs. It is performed in the same way as an exercise with a support, but the hands must be free. An adult or inflatable sleeves can hold the upper body on the water.
This is practically the last step before the present independent swimming. Here I am a theorist, I saw only how my husband taught his daughter to fold her hands in a boat and sharpen wide sweeps with her hands on land.
The child should lay face down on the water, and to inhale, turn his head toward the hand that finishes the stroke. Hands should be moved in turns, and the movement should take place under the abdomen to the thigh. In this case, the legs move as in the previous exercise.
As in any learning process, it is important to have patience, calm, time and desire. Teaching a child to swim for a day or two is almost impossible, and the level of physical fitness should be appropriate.
In any case, even if the baby does not master the technique of swimming, as you would like, any contact with water has a great developing, strengthening and healing effect.
And, most importantly, even if it seems to you that the child has learned to swim – this is not a reason to leave him unsupervised on the water, and even more so, to charge him to look after his younger children in water. Remember, sometimes moments are enough to make the irreparable happen.
