Due to the abundance of reservoirs in the area (lakes, river), and with the arrival of heat, mosquitoes begin their hectic activities.
And if earlier I didn’t pay special attention to them, now their bites are so painful that instead of points in their place there is a blister with swelling, and sometimes with a seal under the skin. Naturally, the child wants to brush this place harder, which causes even more painful sensations.
Antihistamines will help reduce the itch a bit – last year I gave my daughter Fenistil drops, but now the drug is being reregistered, so I had to switch to Erius.
Analogues mass – Claritin, L-tset, Eden, Loratadin, etc.
Outwardly, the bite can be smeared with one of the drugs, which are now in pharmacies and supermarkets abundance. Last year, I didn’t like the effect, or rather, its absence after ointments – Fenistil, Psilobalm, Dermadrin. Yes, the swelling and redness disappear, but not quickly, but in about half a day (I suspect that the effect would be the same without the use of a remedy).
This year I still use the Bite-off ointment (Biocon), the cost is about 40 p. The manufacturer promises cooling and analgesic effects. Indeed, the swelling comes off pretty quickly, and the daughter is biting the bite-less place after this cream.
Also Boro-cream based on Indian herbs helps me to remove redness and itching. It is also worth a little – about 40 rubles, but the manufacturer claims that this cream treats absolutely everything – from bites to scratches.
I like the smell and harmlessness (allowed for children from birth) Chicco mosquito spray. The cost of the bottle about 400 rubles., Composition – herbal extracts. It protects quite well, there are only single bites. They can handle both clothing and skin (avoiding contact with mucous membranes).
Another option – Stop mosquito spray (Biokon), allowed for children from 1 year. The smell is almost absent, the degree of protection is quite average. The cost of about 100 p. per bottle.
Last year, we were rescued by special bracelets with capsules containing citrus essential oil. It should be pierced after purchase – from 1 to 5 punctures, depending on the desired intensity of the smell.
The cost of the bracelet – 80r., Now they are sold in pharmacies. The only drawback is that even a bracelet of minimum size (90mm) is great for the child’s handle, so you had to wear it on the leg. And the legs really were no bites.
We tried the Raid spiral – one coil of it must be set on fire and the smoke would supposedly drive away the insects. The smoke drives away, but then the smell of this smoke turns out to be thoroughly saturated with clothes.
We tried this tool on the playground, in the end everything came as if after a picnic, soaked in a scent that was more chemical than the smell of a fire.
I tried the old method – clove essential oil. Unlike my dad, I really like his smell and protective properties.
In the pharmacy, this oil is 90r. for 10 ml. Apply it on the skin –
rub a few drops on open areas of the body. Make sure that the oil does not get on the clothes – there will be greasy staining stains.
You should also ensure that the oil does not fall on the mucous membranes – this can cause burns and discomfort. In case of contact, wash the affected area with plenty of water.
And remember that at first you should apply oil on a small area of skin and follow the presence or absence of an allergic reaction.
By the way, do not apply oil to children on their hands – with their love, they constantly pull something in their mouth or rub their face with a high chance of getting the product in their eyes. That was exactly what my daughter had – she said it was very painful and tingling.
Perhaps the choice of means depends on your location – different types of mosquitoes react differently to the means.
When choosing protection, pay attention to the possibility of use for children. Also, do not forget about clothes – it is better if it is as closed and free as possible (for example, it is easier to bite a mosquito through tight leggings.
