I myself love to skate and once even went to a sports school of figure skating. We put the older daughter on skates at the age of 4, and the first couple appeared at the age of 5. Grandmother and grandfather presented them to her for their birthday, and there was no limit to the joy.
I did not participate in the selection of the first pair, but I was satisfied. These were sliding skates in three sizes with a removable cover. That is, the model was a plastic frame on which the blades are attached and there are 2 zigzag fasteners. A warm case was inserted into the plastic frame that looked like a felt boot.
Due to the fact that the model was moved apart in three sizes, the daughter was riding in the same skates for 3 winters in a row, which made me very happy. I know that many people are against such a model, they say, we used to ride white figures as a child and the child should buy the same ones. But I found a lot pros in our version:
– the case additionally warms the leg (in the white figures the boot is very thin and even in warm socks the leg is cold)
– you can wear skates for a long time, because the child’s foot grows on average by one size each year
– skates are well tightened on the leg with the help of special valves, no need to suffer with lacing
Ordinary model figurines
No matter how much she moved her skates, the day came when her daughter said that her legs were already slipping into them and she had to buy new ones. It was in February, and it seemed that spending money on winter sports was not logical. But just at that time right under our windows, finally, they poured ice in the hockey box!
Do not ask why the ice appeared only at the end of winter, apparently, our housing department decided that in the spring the children would be more fun riding. In general, it was a pity to have good ice under your nose and not to ride it. They decided to take the skates from their hands and bought excellent skates at the auction. In fact, I don’t know if I call them correctly, we all say that.
The only drawback of the model is the fact that the child will skate in them on the strength of season 1-2, and then the skates will be small.
But also pros found a lot:
– beautiful appearance (sliding model is bulky, but here it’s just white swans on legs)
– well tighten on a leg by means of a lacing
– low weight (I did not weigh, but it seemed to me that they weigh less than sliding ones)
If the child is small, I would advise to give preference to the sliding model. Economically it is more profitable, and the child does not roll on the rink every day, the pair practically does not wear out. In any case, do not forget to properly care for the baby’s skates – sharpen them and wipe the blades with a soft cloth after use.
