When the daughter in the store with pleading eyes asks Buy chips! and adds five-fold please, every time I am afraid to break. Especially, if you already refused to buy chupa chups and salted straw. In such cases, a quick glance is looking for some alternative in the shop windows: Oh, look, your favorite cheese!
Lard, sausage, fried meat
My first brother and I were born with a month and a half difference. When I learned that the five-month-old Max was already eating lard, and a little later, and smoked sausage, I was very surprised, but did not say anything. They have their own army of grandparents and their heads on their shoulders.
I fed my daughter with breast milk for up to 10 months, but from four I have already begun to lure with vegetable purees and gradually the rest. I do not remember when she met with sausage and sausages, which she now loves very much. But here grandparents began to fatten it around the year.
Honestly, I didn’t understand their enthusiasm: How good the fat is eating! But I didn’t mind, it still seemed to be ecologically clean food, unlike sausage. But once the child got sick after this delicacy: apparently, the food is still heavy for the children’s stomach, only very small doses were taken well. After that incident, I imposed a ban on fat.
Now my daughter has among her favorite meat products, which I consider harmful – kebab and roasted meat. But if we prepare the first one not so often, so I don’t worry too much, then the second one several times a week, because the husband, like most men, cannot do without fried meat. If I do not cook such dishes, he will get to the kitchen and do something harmful with a crisp crust. It is difficult to fight such a bad example.
Crispy and very salty
The second battalion of harmful and extremely attractive food for children consists of all kinds of snacks: crackers, mercilessly seasoned with spices, chips, dried fish, salted nuts. It is great that in our family no one is interested in such nonsense. It happens, once a year, the desire to eat chips rolls over me, but not more often.
However, without our example, my daughter met with these products, when she began to walk in the yard, she was about four. More than once we have already spoken to her that on those croutons there are too many harmful powders that cause a tummy ache. All the same, from time to time I find out that she was once again treated by the children. She knows that it is impossible, but she really wants it.
Sweet but nasty
Closing the army of enemies of children’s stomach sweets. The most harmful, in my opinion, those that, among other things, also spoil the teeth – lollipops, especially chemical chupa-chups, caramel, chewing candy.
I have a positive attitude to chocolate, I love it very much, the main thing with it is to comply with the measure. But for children, of course, it will be better for them to learn about it as late as possible. From all, where there is sugar in large quantities, suffer teeth. Have you ever seen this heartbreaking sight when preschool children get their teeth filled? Nightmare.
Another source of sugar, which affects not only the teeth, but also the endocrine system – juices. I confess that for quite a long time in our house we always had purchased juices, my daughter loved them very much. But then, somehow gradually and imperceptibly, she learned to quench her thirst with ordinary water. And voila – plus saving the family budget, minus the extra sugar in the body.
What to do with it?
For example, I had to learn to cook. The fact is that until our daughter was born, my husband and I did not particularly bother about food. And it was necessary not only to learn how to cook snacks as an alternative to purchased sweets, but also to invent breakfasts, lunches and dinners more interesting.
On the other hand, in the pathetic moment of pitiful requests in the store, you need to be prepared to offer something in return for what you are asked to buy. In extreme cases, promise to fry potatoes instead of chips, and even better switch to yogurt or cottage cheese.
What harm love your children? And how are you fighting this?
