Knowledge and study of simple geometric shapes will not be superfluous for a child, but on the contrary, it will perfectly improve thinking, logic, memory, attention.
When to start to engage – depends on the decision of the parents. Someone from the age of 3 months shows the child cards (Domana, for example), developing cartoons with images of figures, etc. In part, this idea is not devoid of meaning – and the mother in business, and the child is interesting. If the mother has no time and / or desire, you can start later, it is not critical.
Personally, I began to acquaint my daughter with simple geometric figures at the age of about 2 years. First I showed pictures of them, in parallel we studied colors and sizes.
By the way, just for two years, my daughter was presented with an excellent toy – a phone with different modes of operation. The first is to carry out tasks, for example: click the red triangle; the second is the study of numbers; the third is letters. Very useful toy, my daughter has been playing for almost 2 years.
It is possible to develop knowledge not only during classes, but also during walks – to look for objects of a certain form (sun – circle, window – square), draw with chalk on asphalt, with a stick on the sand, sculpt from snow.
After 3 years, it is already possible to do more complex exercises, to introduce new figures into use. We have long been popular ruler-stencil, with which you can independently draw geometric shapes. I also saw on sale geometric lotto – the principle is the same, only instead of the figure numbers.
On the Internet there are many simple thematic poems. Our favorite:
The round circle is like a ball,
He gallops across the sky.
Round like a disk of the moon,
Like granny pancakes
If the child is able and loves to cut, then you can offer to make applications from figures. With the help of scissors you can also track the paths of transformation – a circle into semicircles, a rectangle into squares, etc.
Sometimes I buy stickers in the shape of figures – the principles of the classes are the same as in the application, just do not need to cut anything.
The tasks of the child are also well developed in which you need to compare the size of the figures (which is larger / smaller, or add up in ascending order, for example), their colors (sorted by color and shades), the suggestion to add an object from the given figures (for example, a house of triangles and squares, a tree of triangles), etc.
I hope the story of my experience will bring newness to your pastime with your child!
