A few months ago, two of my friends (Marina and Natasha) with their children and husbands moved to the United States. We continue to regularly communicate using the Internet, I am very interested to listen to their stories about the principles of education and child care in another country.
Of course, they may differ depending on the state, parents and other factors. I would be glad if you share your observations.
The sites are different from ours; finding a sandbox in the USA is worth a lot of work. Often, the ground is covered with a special roll coating, which looks like asphalt, but to the touch even slightly springy, which reduces injuries during falls.
Natasha, unlike Marina, living in sunny California, lives in a densely populated northern city. The grounds they have are rare, mostly children walk in the parks. When I was asked about where the children walk while in the kindergarten, she calmly replied: On the roof !.
It turns out that the sites are often equipped on the roofs of buildings.
The world famous Disneyland is popular not only among tourists, there are quite a lot of locals in it. What is surprising, in this park a huge number of very young children, who are at least uninteresting cartoon characters. In this case, more fun parents, I think.
Speaking of parents. Both friends say that they have never seen such a number of fathers with children anywhere in Ukraine.
The cult of clothes, of course, no. Preference is given to knitwear, which you can buy even with boxes, because t-shirts cost a few dollars, and during sales, and even cheaper.
What surprised me was that in hot California, children do not wear hats. For the entire time of her stay, Marina saw only two girls in a panama, and that, she was part of the kit.
Crocs and uggs are popular among the shoes, orthopedists there are not particularly worried about this, and parents are even less so.
Natasha’s son attends a kindergarten for a fee – $ 1,500 a month. Moreover, the amount is paid regardless of the number of days of visits. But Marina’s daughters were not allowed to fully stay in the garden due to the fact that her mother was not working. They do not pay for visiting the kindergarten, because there is a sponsor.
Children in the garden do not sleep. Rather, he is sleeping who wants, and who does not want is not sleeping. Meals are ordinary, the staff, as well as ours, is an educator and a nanny. Despite the fact that the Russian nanny, she does not speak Russian with her son Natasha.
At my request to photograph the premises of the group, Natasha categorically refused, because other people’s children cannot be photographed.
In kindergartens themed parties are popular – New Year, Christmas, Halloween, Mother’s Day. Parents with children prepare crafts and treats.
As you know, in the US, it is expensive. Costs depend on the availability and type of health insurance. Recently, Marina’s daughter got sick with something like a flu (viral infection), for blood tests, urine tests, and doctor’s consultation, the hospital billed $ 1,600.
But when Natasha’s son was sick (enterovirus infection), then the pediatrician’s advice. Give him more. And follow the diet. their family is worth 300 dollars.
There is no such thing as a visit by a district pediatrician to go home in order to listen to wheezing in the lungs of a coughing baby. Children are taken to the hospital independently.
I remember one of my friends, she drove to the hospital twins, who had a temperature under 40, because the call to the ambulance team would cost several thousand dollars. By the way, then they also waited for the reception of the doctor for 2 hours in the order of the general queue.
In kindergarten, Natasha’s son does not pay attention to snot and coughing at all. And allowed to visit him, provided that the temperature is not higher than 37.5.
It is impossible to beat children, and shout at them too. I do not know whether it is compliance with the law, or whether they have such a character, but regardless of the cause of the conflict, it is considered that the child needs to explain everything in detail without the use of force.
Parents in the United States absolutely do not worry about such trifles as nipples, strollers, diapers. You can often watch 4-5 year old children in strollers, canes. If it is convenient for the child and mother, then why not?
Similar to dummies and diapers. If a child is not able to restrain himself, then he will not defecate on the street – let him walk in a diaper until he is aware.
As you can see, there are some differences. The position of Americans regarding clothes and upbringing is close to me, but the cost of medical care just scares me.
