Recently, my youngest daughter’s speech has noticeably improved. It makes me very happy. If in September we came to a speech therapist, and I could say that her vocabulary consists of 10-20 words, then today I lost count! And the daughter repeats everything that people say, builds phrases and even repeats verses, which for me was a complete surprise.
Independent work on speech
Honestly, I do not believe in the stories that the child did not speak for a long time, and then suddenly started talking at once. In order for us to have positive advances in speech, we are engaged with the daughter in full. A lot of fine motor skills, speech therapy massage. I also talk a lot with my daughter, read books to her every day and try to discuss what I read.
In general, I can not say that I have any one miraculous method that would help the child to speak. It is rather a whole range of measures. In principle, we have done everything that I have listed before, except for speech therapy massage, which the doctor showed us at the reception. It is not difficult to spend it with a child and every mother can learn manipulations.
Hands and feet
We start the massage with limbs. At first, I knead my palm in a circular motion. You can also tell a poem about magpie-crow. Then turn to the fingers. In circular motions I knead each finger, starting from the tip. Then turn to the footsteps.
In general, the speech therapist did not speak to me about the feet, but advised me only to knead the fingers on the legs, but we have long been massaging the feet on the advice of the orthopedist. Therefore, I first massage the legs, and then each finger, as well as on the hands.
I start the massage with stroking the face: from the middle of the forehead to the temples, from the eyebrows up, around the eyes, along the cheeks, chin and neck. Then, with light movements, I pinch the lower jaw and turn to a massage of three points that stimulate speech. This place is slightly above the eyebrows, on the tip of the nose and above the upper lip. Massage them to one and the other side.
Tongue I massage with a toothbrush. The daughter is already so accustomed that she pulls her out when we brush our teeth. Brush I spend on it from the base to the tip. First on one side, then on the other. Then I draw a Christmas tree in the tongue and brush the transverse stripes along it. Then I gently take it with my fingers and move it left and right, up and down. You can still twist the language in different directions.
I read that this massage can be performed for children from 2 months. Therefore, it is not necessary to wait for a certain point, but rather to conduct a session at home on your own as a preventive measure.
