Breathing exercises for children, preschoolers

This year my youngest daughter went to kindergarten and immediately began to get sick often. Runny nose, cough, red throat – the symptoms are the same. Of course, I knew that in the kindergarten the children get sick more, but not enough to attend this establishment only 5 days a month.

Difficulty breathing

With the advent of disease, another problem emerged that I had already forgotten – the adenoids. And with them I began to notice that my daughter often does not breathe through her nose, but uses her mouth for this. The eldest daughter also had adenoids, and with her I also conducted exercises aimed at improving nasal breathing.

But breathing exercises are useful not only for those who are often sick, and not only for children. Such gymnastics improves oxygen exchange, stimulates the heart, intestines and stomach.

Since my child is still small and too difficult to do exercises with her is problematic, we do breathing exercises for young children.

Blow on the leaves

Walking with my daughter in the fall, we collected material for handicrafts with her — we picked yellow leaves from the trees. I let my daughter down to the trees and read her a poem:

We are leaves, we are leaves,
We are funny leaves,
We sat on the branches,
The wind blew – flew.

Then we inhaled the air with her nose and blew on the leaves, folding her lips with a straw. It takes a long time to blow. The street is already cool, so you need to make sure that the child does not breathe air through his mouth. And in the summer you can likewise blow on dandelions.

At home, my daughter loves to water the flowers, at the same time we train our breath. Inhale deeply with the nose and blow on the flower.


To perform the exercise you need a toy mouse. I recite a little poem to my daughter:

The mouse got out of the mink,
The mouse is very hungry.
Is there any dried crust,
Maybe there is a crust in the kitchen?

The daughter should inhale at this moment with her nose and on the exhale squeak: Pee pee pee pee!

Frankly, this exercise is not for the faint of heart. Our daughter loves music and therefore it is not necessary to ask her to play instruments. I give her a child’s pipe and ask me to loudly fuck her. As an option, you can use tweeters and dudelka, which are usually sold in sets for celebrating a birthday.

We also throw a ball at each other, but we need to throw it correctly. First, the hands with the ball rise to the chest on the inhale, then the ball rushes on the exhale and with the sound: Uhhh !.

Bubble

I once wrote a topic on homemade soap bubbles. So the bubbles in our house are not transferred, because daughter loves to blow them. And it makes me happy, because This is a great breathing training.

All exercises are not difficult, and they can be done in between cases. The main thing is to ensure that the child does not breathe out so much, but inhale correctly – through the nose.
