When my daughter went to kindergarten, I noticed that she often began to embellish reality in her stories. Honestly, at first I was happy with her fantasies and was sometimes even touched. But gradually, such inventions turned into lies.
The big lie of the little man
The daughter can hide the candy and say that she did not take them. One day she climbed into my makeup bag and smeared it with lipstick. Of course, she was in no hurry to admit. Only a few days later, she came up to me and told me that she had taken a makeup bag to look at, and the lipstick had opened and her daughter had accidentally smeared everything around her.
I did not feel sorry for lipstick and candy. I just wanted my daughter to tell the truth. My husband thought that I was in vain worried. He was sure that this is a feature of age and from the time his daughter’s habit of deceiving will come to naught. But I did not want to start the situation in the hope that it would pass by itself. I decided to take action. Perhaps my experience will be useful to you, dear girls.
Once I offered my daughter to play an exciting game – to switch roles. My daughter happily agreed to my conditions: from now on she had to tell the truth, and I was to deceive.
The game turned out really fascinating, I tell you 🙂 It went something like this:
– Mom, did you buy me some candy?
– Bought it in the kitchen on the table.
– Mom, it’s not there!
– I do not know, I did not take.
At first, my daughter did not understand what the trick was. And only after a long search for the missing candy, she asked if I had deceived her. In response, I recalled the rule of our game. The fact that my act upset my daughter was visible in her sullen face.
I decided to continue the experiment. On the same day, the baby asked me not to deceive me anymore. I agreed, asking her to promise the same.
Perhaps my way seemed to you not pedagogical and not humane, but he had a good influence on his daughter. She felt how offensive it was when she was being deceived and lying from her side, I no longer noticed.
From this story I made a conclusion for myself. I also stopped cheating on my daughter. This did not happen often before, but there were times when, for example, I promised her to go for a walk, but because of fatigue or employment I could not do it.
I decided to tell my daughter everything as it really is. Although she is still rather small, but it seems to me that she feels a lie.
So our problem was solved. Of course, there are cases when a daughter tries to embellish her story, but when she sees my opinion, she is immediately corrected.
Did you have similar problems? Did you manage to solve them?
