Why does my back hurt after childbirth?

The presence of pain in the back after childbirth is associated, first of all, with the state of the muscles during the gestation of the fetus. It is during pregnancy that the muscles undergo various deformations – stretching, elongation, compression. All these factors negatively affect the muscles of the back and eventually lead to their gradual reduction. Deformation of the back muscles eventually leads to the appearance of a cavity in the lumbar region and bulging of the abdomen. If a woman after such modifications of the body tries to lift the weight or just sit on her knees, then at the same time will feel a strong pain in the lower back.

But are all pregnant women subject to the influence of negative factors on the muscles of the lower back and why do these changes cause pain? During pregnancy with each month the fetus becomes more and more and the bulging belly leads to the fact that her posture changes. The spine bends in the lumbar and thoracic region, causing deformation of the posture. Depending on which side of the uterus the fetus was located, it entailed a displacement of the spine. When the spine is deformed due to displacement of the vertebrae, the nerve endings are jammed and cause various kinds of pain.

  • Immediately after birth, a woman needs to exclude all physical activity from her activity in order to allow the muscles to adapt.
  • To resort to gymnastics.
  • Avoid works that need to be tilted.
  • When breastfeeding it is necessary to choose comfortable postures, in which the body will be at least strained.
  • More rest. When a child sleeps, the mother can also afford a similar rest on her back.
  • If excess weight was gained during pregnancy, then it is necessary to get rid of it.
