Tank seeding during pregnancy
During pregnancy, women have to take a lot of different tests. Of course, sometimes it’s tiring. But do not think that this is just the whim of doctors!
After a neglected disease can seriously complicate the course of pregnancy. And this is very dangerous for the health of both the future mother and the baby.
That is why during this period doctors closely monitor the health of women. For a period of 28 weeks, future mothers are issued an exchange card. This is a medical document in which the doctor of the women’s consultation notes how the pregnancy is taking place.
There are also all the results of numerous surveys. One such analysis is bacteriological culture.
What is it?
Tank seeding (bacteriological culture) is a laboratory analysis by which a doctor can determine the type of microorganisms that caused one or another inflammatory process. How is it conducted?
A small amount of biological material – blood, urine, feces, nasal discharge, etc. – is applied very thinly to special nutrient media. For example, sugar broth, or agar.
This is called sowing.
After this, the tubes are placed in a thermostat, which maintains a pleasant temperature for bacteria. That is, they create conditions for the bacteria to multiply.
