Sex after abortion: is it possible?
The recovery period after the abortion procedure is a difficult time in a woman’s life. The severity of the physical and emotional state of the patient is determined by the method by which abortion was carried out. Rehabilitation period can last from one to six months, it all depends on the degree of complications that arise. Many couples during this period are often interested in when it is possible to resume sexual relations after cleansing and how safe they are for a woman. It is worth dwelling on this topic in more detail.
Immediately after the abortion, doctors categorically prohibit patients from any physical activity, swimming pool, tampons and sexual contacts. This is due to the fact that after the procedure the uterine organ of a woman is injured and represents an open wound. So any contact with the mucous membrane can provoke bleeding and will be painful.
The second reason for the prohibitions is the possible introduction of infection during sexual intercourse, since the cervix is enlarged and open to any pathogenic microorganisms.
As a rule, if a woman does not have any complications during the recovery period, physicians already within 3-4 weeks allow intimate contacts. However, these figures are not applicable to all the fair sex. Much depends on the age, state of health, the quality of the operation performed, and also on the type of the operation itself.
