Genetic Compatibility of Spouses
Sometimes an absolutely healthy married couple for a long time can not acquire offspring. There are no visible reasons for infertility, but pregnancy does not occur.
However, sometimes it comes, but literally at the earliest possible time there is a spontaneous miscarriage. And the reason for this is the genetic compatibility of the spouses.
Absolutely all cells in the human body on their surface have the protein HLA (human leukocyte antigen). Experts identify about 800 proteins of these proteins.
And it is they who in a healthy organism recognize viruses, bacteria, cancer cells. At the moment when HLA proteins detect an alien cell in the body, they send a signal to the immune system, causing the production of antibodies IgM, IgG and IgA that destroy the pest.
It would seem that pregnancy (or rather an embryo) is also an offender, because it consists of half of the biological material of the father. But here the protective mechanism is turned on and the production of blocking antigens protecting the placenta and the embryo from spontaneous rejection begins.
However, in cases where the mother’s HLA is very similar to that of the father’s HLA, a failure occurs, and the woman’s body does not recognize pregnancy, but considers the embryo to be a cancerous or underdeveloped cell. That is, the development of protective antigens does not occur, which means that the pregnancy is spontaneously interrupted.
Miscarriage can occur literally on the third or fourth day after conception, that is, a woman does not even guess that 72-96 hours she was pregnant. However, termination of pregnancy can occur at a much later date or not at all.
Then how lucky.
Is the genetic compatibility of spouses dangerous for the fetus?
Genetic compatibility of parents in most cases is absolutely safe for the future child. After all, the main problem that will have to face because of this phenomenon is the inability to become pregnant and bear fruit.
However, a similar set of genes in spouses can occasionally lead to anomalies in the development of the child. Therefore, in addition to the test for genetic compatibility, it is possible to make a detailed genetic analysis of blood.
It is necessary to go through this procedure early in the planning process.
How is the test done on the genetic compatibility of the spouses?
To analyze the genetic compatibility of future parents, blood from the vein is taken. As a rule, the results of this test are ready in two weeks. Then the geneticist makes a transcript and gives a conclusion.
