Determination of sex by ultrasound
Answering the question of many future parents: How to accurately determine the sex of the child? , you can give only one answer – through ultrasound. Generally, there are a lot of ways, but the definition of sex by ultrasound is the most accurate and proven method.
And its special and main distinguishing feature is that it refers to non-invasive methods, that is, it is carried out without any internal interference in the mother’s body, and therefore is absolutely safe for both her and the future baby.
This type of examination is needed not only when it is required to accurately determine the sex of the future child, but also in the process of pregnancy in general, because the information obtained with it can become very important if suddenly it comes to any diseases that are transmitted together with sex chromosomes. That’s why all pregnant women undergo planned ultrasound.
The most correct time from which you can count on the reliability of ultrasound is 21-22 weeks of pregnancy. Here it is already possible to more or less accurately determine the sex of the child – a photo made by an ultrasound scanner, even if not particularly knowledgeable, the person will show obvious signs of gender.
Naturally, sex is already determined during conception – when the spermatozoon merges with the egg. However, the formation of genital organs begins only at 8 weeks.
Up to this point, it is possible to distinguish only the sexual tubercle, which differs neither in boys nor in girls. And in this case even a very experienced specialist using the most modern equipment can not accurately determine the gender.
Diagnosis (screening) determines the sex of the child with a probability of 50% as early as 12 weeks. But this is possible only if there is highly professional equipment, and the examination is carried out by an experienced sonologist.
How do doctors determine the sex of the child?
To understand how ultrasound determines sex, do not need to have any special knowledge. The child’s field can be judged by the angle formed by the sexual tubercle of the fetus and its back.
If this angle is less than 30 °, then for sure you can expect the birth of a girl. If this angle exceeds this value, then most likely in the womb – a boy.
But, in any case, these figures represent only indirect evidence.
Precisely determine the sex of the future child, as already mentioned, it is possible, starting from 21-22 weeks of pregnancy, since at this stage the genitals are already formed definitively and the physician conducting the examination will be based not on corners and other measurements, on the basis of appearance genital organs. Although it also happens that even on the third planned ultrasound, which takes place on a 21-week period, it is not possible to find out the sex of the child, there is a possibility of error.
To make a mistake in determining the sex of a child, ultrasound may occur in several cases:
