Pregnancy test with soda
Even with the advent of highly sensitive pharmacy tests, women still resort to folk methods of determining pregnancy. One of the most common methods is a soda test. It is attractive for cheap and easy to carry out.
As you know, with the onset of pregnancy, the biochemical composition of blood and urine changes. This is promoted by human chorionic gonadotropin – a hormone produced by the embryo when implanted into the uterus. Until the end is not exactly studied, but perhaps the acid-base balance of urine is also subject to change, so soda reacts with it.
The method says that if there is a pregnancy, soda, getting into the urine, will not give any reaction, but it will sink to the bottom of the container, and if it is not, it will hiss, turn into a lot of bubbles. This fact is explained by the fact that soda is alkali and when it enters an acidic environment, the latter will affect it in a certain way.
The pregnancy test with soda is carried out on morning urine, tk. in it the highest concentration of hormones and biologically active substances, which are capable of changing the chemical composition of urine. It should be collected in a clean, preferably sterile, container. The volume of the collected liquid is about 100-150 ml. Then, in a container with urine, you need to pour 1 teaspoon of baking soda and watch the process.
