Dentistry during pregnancy
Medical enlightenment of the population does its job, today every girl knows that pregnancy should be planned.
Each future mother, along with the future father, should undergo a series of studies, therapeutic measures that will help to substantially reduce all risks for the development of the fetus and the course of pregnancy. It is encouraging that such responsible families are becoming more and more.
The arguments in favor of this are many, and just visiting a dentist and dental treatment will be one of them. Despite the fact that pregnancy is a completely physiological condition, meanwhile, it imposes a number of restrictions and, at times, bans in the treatment and use of some research methods that may be extremely necessary.
Among the mothers, certain beliefs, superstitions and other folk folklore travel. One of the myths, which frighten each other impressionable young lady, says: one child – one tooth picks up.
The majority of myths are connected with fiction, and at least with significant exaggeration, but this statement can turn into reality, and can be explained from the point of view of medicine.
When treating teeth in pregnant women, it is necessary to use anesthetics that will operate at the local level and will not penetrate into the total blood flow. Even if there is such a need, drugs that lack the ability to cross the placental barrier will be selected.
Under any circumstances, the choice of anesthetic is complex, the doctor will first find out details about the woman's health, the presence of concomitant diseases, the course of pregnancy, gradually narrowing the range of authorized anesthetics.
Arsenic as such is a relic of the past, and has not been used in dentistry for several decades, but the term arsenic does not want to go away from the terminology of dentists.
Modern dentistry, to date, uses drugs to devitalize pulp, similar in effect to arsenic, but either with its microscopic and doses, or even without it. In accordance with this, dental treatment, even during pregnancy, using arsenic is allowed, and can not harm the fetus.
This method of treatment is given the greatest preference, since it is less painful. It is much better to remove the dead nerve than to remove the live one, but with the use of anesthesia. It is much easier to anesthetize the removal of the tooth - a short-term operation than the removal of pulp, which will take more than a dozen minutes, and anesthesia, as such, has a validity.
