A couple of days ago I woke up with a terrible cough. No wonder they say that spring is deceptive. I was very upset, because I am in the last weeks of pregnancy and I want to give birth, being absolutely healthy, so that it would be most comfortable and not infect the baby.
The first thing I did was call a doctor who would give birth to me in order to get competent advice. According to her, if I had a cough before the 36th week of pregnancy, it would be possible to prescribe the most benign medications.
And since childbirth can begin from day to day, you can only be treated by folk methods. Otherwise, the substances that are in the composition of the drugs can get into breast milk. And this should not be allowed. How to get rid of cough pregnant without the use of pills and mixtures?
This is one of the easiest and safest ways to deal with cough. The most effective – inhalation with sage, honey, eucalyptus or pine needles. At my house there were just remnants of sage, which I took advantage of.
Preparing a decoction is very simple. I filled two tablespoons of medicinal sage with a glass of boiling water and covered it with a lid, let it brew for about 20 minutes. After this, the broth was poured into a small bowl and, covered with a towel with a head, inhaled the sage vapors for five minutes.
Today is the third day of my treatment with inhalations, and I already see a positive result. The cough did not completely go away, but he didn’t become so dry and his throat became less sore.
To get rid of cough as quickly as possible, inhalation alone is not enough. On the advice of the doctor, I began to gargle. The more often this is done, the faster the cough will recede.
To rinse the throat, you can use decoctions of such herbs: pharmacy chamomile, coltsfoot, mint, raspberry leaves, root of Althea and pine buds. You can brew them separately, or you can purchase in the pharmacy a ready-made collection of plants in the form of tea bags, which is called Cough Gathering or Chest Gathering.
I chose to rinse a mixture of dry sage, mint and chamomile, which were already at my house. I try not to forget about this procedure and gargle at least once every two to three hours.
The fact that the abundant warm drink helps with various manifestations of colds, we all know from childhood. I remember how my mother, leaving for work and leaving me, coughing, at home, gave me a big thermos of warm raspberry tea. Now I continue to be treated in the same way.
In order not to forget to drink often, I brew tea from raspberries, currants or viburnum in a thermos and put them in a prominent place. I try to have an empty thermos in the evening. Also, when coughing, warm milk with honey helps well, but this drink is an amateur.
And what folk methods are you treating cough?
