When I got pregnant for the first time, I constantly tried to be healthy and it became almost an obsession. It happened because I knew that pregnant women should not take medicine and it’s better to do without them. It’s good that everything worked out and I only once had flu during my pregnancy, but this is different. What to do when a new life is born in your body, and you need to be treated in order not to lose the child, but also not to harm him?
The main rule, after which it is possible to take drugs – this is an assessment of the harm to the health of the fetus without and with drugs. If without drugs the fetus is exposed to more harm, then you need to drink the drug to reduce the amount of harm.
It is better not to take medications if it is calculated that it may be worse than it is.
And in any case, medications need to be taken only if they are in the amount that your doctor prescribed. During pregnancy, you do not need to engage in any self-treatment. Read the insert-application to drugs, there should not be a warning that pregnant women are forbidden to take it.
You need to be especially careful with these drugs:
-tetracycline and its derivatives can cause developmental defects at the beginning of pregnancy, and in the later lines – an abnormal development of growth and tooth primordia;
-chloramphenicol – in danger organs of blood formation of the fetus;
-streptomycin – causes deafness;
-acetylsalicylic acid – affects the organs of the kidneys and heart of the fetus. It is better to replace with paracetamol;
-analgin – it is not recommended to take it to pregnant women, and generally it is not recommended to anyone, as it is very bad for human blood;
-reserpine – the pressure can be reduced in other ways, and during pregnancy bypass this drug side.
If you get sick during pregnancy, do not despair and consult with your doctor (general physician) on the issue of finding possible national methods of treatment of the disease, which usually can be much more effective and less harmful.
It is worth remembering that even herbal tea from medicinal plants can be harmful and can only be drunk after being prescribed by a doctor.
Postpone routine vaccination and X-ray procedure during pregnancy.
Vitamin complexes can be taken only for pregnant women and after their use by a doctor. Sometimes it is better to eat less natural vitamins than a surplus of pharmaceutical.
Strengthen immunity before and during pregnancy and be healthy!
