Our Elinochka was born on March 26 at 3.30 am. After all the necessary procedures, I put it on his chest. So we lay in the generic until almost 6 am At 6 I was already in the ward. My girlfriend was brought after me. Her mother was taken away for half an hour to be vaccinated and swaddled.
Chamber number 6
We didn’t have time to settle down when we got another mommy hooked up with Marina and her son Sasha. They were born an hour later than us. We were the first women in labor of this day and we were very lucky with the chamber. It was the only double chamber for the whole maternity ward. All the rest were designed for 4 or 6 people.
Only we met, as they brought us lunch. In fact, it is impossible to eat in the wards, but we have been made an exception, since we have just given birth. They brought semolina and tea. Porridge from hunger seemed to us delicious, but tea is a separate story.
How to feed in our maternity ward
At about 7 in the morning, breakfast begins and the women in labor by a friendly crowd stomp to the end of the corridor to the kitchen. By the way, we were lucky that our chamber was the most remote from the dining room, so we hardly heard any wonderful smells. But the shower was next door.
For breakfast, offered porridge with a piece of butter. Semolina and rice are quite edible, but here is the oat-flakes (although I have not eaten it since my childhood), sorry for the expression, it looks like snot. Plus poured compote, by the way very tasty.
For lunch: first – the soup (quite edible and non-fat, which I was infinitely pleased). The second I ate only on the first day. It was hot. On the next 2 days, we refused the second one with the neighbor, being afraid to eat pea porridge and stew. What a fool, I ask, was this menu?
Honestly, what we were fed for dinner, I do not remember. But I want to tell you about tea. It is cooked in saucepans and poured into glasses. The taste is just unique, it smells like a bath besom. Fortunately, husbands brought tea, sugar and cookies to us, so we didn’t drink public things.
We ate mostly in the ward, we just carried each other food from the kitchen, since it was impossible to leave the kids. They cried in turns. One calms down, the other begins. They tried to scold us for disregarding the order, but this did not lead to results).
In the ward number 5, there was a girl named Lucy, from 35 years old. Girlfriends constantly came to her windows and shouted: Lyuyuyusya, Lyuyusyu. But for some reason she did not respond. After her cesarean, her baby was born less than 3 kilos and seemed very small compared to ours. And she herself was like a little sparrow.
On the contrary, the whole company is located in the 7th ward. Mom of 6 kids, all-knowing and giving advice to the right and left. Another girl from the village, snoring at night and lulling the baby with the help of some strange songs. The girl after Cesarean, very calm, I remember her from the moment of labor. She walked past the corridor back and forth, her water flowed away, and labor activity did not begin at all. The rest somehow did not remember.
Visits and transfers
Transfers were taken from 8 to 10 in the morning or from 6 to 8 in the evening. We could not go out, so my husband just came in the evenings under the windows of the ward and looked at us from below. So did his brother and his wife, and my mother and her friend. Everyone was waiting for us to be discharged home.
The roommate turned out to be a very cheerful girl and we lived wonderfully with her for 3 days, on the 4th we were discharged home. I remember the time spent in the hospital, with some special warmth.
By the way, we forgot my pregnant dress there. So, maybe I will return there for one more baby)
