What documents are needed to register citizenship to a newborn
Many mothers and dads are carefully prepared for the birth of the heir, sometimes thinking out all the steps that should be taken after the birth of the crumb. But few people think about the need to register citizenship. In principle, this is not surprising – for parents who are citizens of the Russian Federation, it is not necessary to undergo the procedure for registering Russian citizenship for a child, since it is automatically assigned to the child. However, there are cases that require the provision of certain documents so that the baby can be considered a citizen of the Russian Federation, and these cases are not always associated with the lack of citizen status with the mother and father. In order not to face the need to urgently collect documents, it is necessary to familiarize oneself with their list in advance, and also to know in which cases it is required to provide them.
The kid automatically becomes a citizen of the Russian Federation, if at the time of his birth this status was:
- Mom and dad
- One of the parents in the case where the location of the second parent is unknown or he does not have any citizenship
- One of the parents, and the second parent is a citizen of another state, but the baby himself must be born in the Russian Federation
