What you need to know about getting a policy for a newborn
Every child born on the territory of the Russian Federation has the right to free medical care. In order to avoid unnecessary questions when contacting a polyclinic, the child must make a document of compulsory health insurance, which allows receiving the necessary medical assistance in a state institution, regardless of actual residence. Let’s consider how to properly issue a MHI policy for a newborn.
Requirements for the insured and the timing of filing
Every citizen of the Russian Federation can obtain a medical policy for an infant. For foreigners, the situation is somewhat different. Under Federal Law No. 62-FZ, children born in Russia, but not having citizenship, can not draw up a document of compulsory insurance. This service becomes available only after acquiring the status of a citizen or obtaining a residence permit.
Parents are advised to submit the necessary documents for obtaining the MHI policy during the first three months of the baby’s life. Until that time, the mother is covered by the insurance. If after the appointed time the policy is not received, then the call or doctor’s visit will be carried out only on a paid basis.
