Dacryocystitis in newborns
Sometimes a young mother can notice that her baby has something wrong with the eyes: pus is accumulating in them, tears constantly stick together, eyelids stick together, and a tear sack swells. In this case, parents usually start treatment by various methods, using herbs, decoctions or drops for the eyes. And not every doctor can immediately make a diagnosis. But all these measures do not lead to improvements, on the contrary, the state becomes more complicated. In this case, we are talking about a disease in a newborn, like dacryocystitis. Observed this ailment is not so often, but every mom needs to know his baby’s symptoms, methods of diagnosis and treatment.
Dacryocystitis usually occurs in the first months or even weeks of a baby’s life, a disease occurs as a result of improper development of the lacrimal pathways in a child and is most often an innate pathology.
The fact is that the baby, when he is in the mother’s womb, the nasolacrimal canal is blocked with a special film – it prevents the liquid from getting into the nose and mouth of the fetus. Normally, this film is torn during the appearance of crumbs into the light, when it takes the first breath. Sometimes it can collapse during the first few weeks of a newborn’s life.
