Aqua d3 for newborns: instruction
Vitamin D appears as a result of the action of ultraviolet in the tissues of living organisms from alicyclic substances. To date, vitamin D is considered to be vitamins D2 and D3. This ergocalciferol and cholecalciferol, which do not have color and smell, are not afraid of high temperatures. These vitamins are split in organic compounds and do not split into liquids.
The action of vitamin D preparations is measured in international units (ME). Pure vitamin D 1 μg = 40 IU. International non-proprietary name: Kolekaltsiferol.
The main component of Aquadetrim is colcalciferol. In 1 ml of aqueous solution contains 1500 IU. This is 30 drops of liquid. The preparation contains auxiliary substances: purified water, sucrose, sodium hydrogenphosphate, benzyl alcohol, citric acid and anise flavor. Thanks to the fragrance of this annual plant, the liquid has a sweet-spicy smell.
The drug is available in the form of drops. Transparent colorless liquid. Pearly shade may appear in the light.
The bottle, with a volume of 10 ml or 300 drops, is made of a darkened glass with a convenient lid-dropper for protection from sunlight.
Drops are prescribed for the prevention and treatment of vitamin D deficiency, with different forms of rickets, renal tubular acidosis, pseudohypoparathyroidism, congenital hypophosphatase, lack of 1α-hydroxylase. And also with an elevated calcium content in the blood, violations of the balance of calcium and phosphorus in the body, softening of the bones.
To make up for the lack of vitamin D, pediatricians prescribe Aquadetrim. The drug can be given to the child from 4 weeks of life to 2 years. In the summer, the daily dose of 1 drop, in the autumn-winter period, when the amount of ultraviolet rays is reduced, 2-3 drops.
For children with signs of bone development, the dosage is 4-10 drops. The more rickets are expressed, the more the daily norm of the medicine.
The amount of the drug is determined by the amount of vitamin D received through the food.
Special contraindications in the use of Aquadetrim for newborns are not observed. An allergic reaction to individual components of the drug is possible, in which the baby may develop a rash and irritation on the skin. In this case, prevention and treatment should be discontinued.
The baby can have headache, anxiety and thirst as side effects. And in rare cases, there is constipation and frequent urination.
If a child has these symptoms, you should not ignore them. Address to the children's doctor, only he is capable to find out the reason of reaction to a medicine. In the first months of life, the baby should be treated with extreme caution in all medicinal medicines. Do not self-medicate.
