Girls, I found such a diet in a magazine today! How often do you hear this phrase from your girlfriends who are not suffering from obesity at all. Why are girls so critical of their figure and more and more interested in different ways of losing weight, ranging from exercise and ending with a complete rejection of food?
At all times, the ideal of feminine beauty was markedly different. In the Middle Ages, it was believed that the fuller the girl, the better, because she would certainly be able to give birth to healthy children. And in the Renaissance, slender, pale-skinned girls were valued, who at the slightest opportunity fainted. This was not at all due to their increased sensitivity, but was a direct result of malnutrition and a corset that was terribly pinched.
In our time, formed its own standard of beauty. He watches us from TV screens, from fashion magazines and catwalks. This is an image of a tall slim model 90-60-90 with a tucked up belly and narrow hips.
Not all girls fit into these settings. But in the pursuit of fashion, most of them achieve a similar result through exhausting diets and physical exercises, often without thinking about the consequences for health.
Today, on the pages of magazines and newspapers, on specialized sites, you can find so many new-fashioned diets and tips that you simply wonder how far a person’s fantasy has gone. The result of this information processing is constant experimentation with diets. This can lead to a violation of food preferences, which is the cause of eating disorders or anorexia nervosa.
Anorexia nervosa is a pathology that manifests itself in an excessively stubborn desire to lose weight. At the same time, the changed attitude to food is not based on real body weight, but on your feelings of excess weight, which is supported by other people. Enough of her friend’s prickly remarks about the figure, so that the girl began to deplete her body even more.
To achieve the goal, patients limit themselves to eating up to a complete rejection of food, intensively engage in physical exercise, walking or running over long distances, take large doses of laxatives and diuretics. When it is impossible to endure a long fast, the patients eat, even overeat, but cause artificial vomiting.
However, they believe that they have not yet reached their ideal, and they absolutely do not listen to the opinions of others about their excessive weight loss. Patients can lose from 20 to 50% of body weight. If you do not consult a specialist in time, the disease can be fatal.
Cure this disease is not as easy as it seems.
I myself went this way when I was 18 years old. It all started quite harmless. With a height of 166 cm. I weighed 64 kg. What is called a girl in the body. Lack of attention from the male side, I did not suffer. Just for myself I wanted to lose a kilogram-another.
I started to limit myself in food (2 months after the start of weight loss I could eat two apples, a banana and processed cheese) for the day, I was actively involved in sports (I ran, did physical exercises). As a result, for 3 months it took 16 kg. At the same time, I still thought that I was too fat.
None of the others did not understand this, but I was just infuriated by their attempts to talk to me that this was somehow abnormal.
The psychotherapist saved me. Mom literally led me to him by force. And thank God, because if it continued for at least another month, it is not known how this would end. Literally after the second session, I realized that I was just killing myself. But it was very hard to get better. Unbelievable efforts cost me to start eating normally again and go in for sports less (for me, physical activity has become something of a drug).
And so gradually, step by step, I was able to overcome this terrible disease.
After all that happened, I understood one simple truth: in pursuit of beauty, we often forget that nature created us very different and we don’t need to fit everyone into one pattern. Therefore, love yourself as you are, and you will never become victims of this terrible disease!
