How, then, to explain the fact that the inhabitants of the south of Italy live for a long time, they look great, and there are far fewer patients there than in America or northern Europe? And all this despite the fact that italians have plenty of fatty foods in the diet. All this leads to the conclusion that the point is not what can be eaten and what should not.
I, as a girl who dreams of becoming slim and so accustomed to look sad at all the tasty, flour and sweet, and, sighing, chewing celery, are very interested in this phenomenon of the Mediterranean diet.
Is it possible to abandon the idea that you can save your health, shape and mood, without denying yourself a full-fledged dinner. It would be just a miracle if there is such a diet that allows you to eat everything you want, no matter how naive it may sound.
But, as expected, the miracle did not happen. Miraculously leave behind those extra pounds, eating everything in its path, unfortunately, will not work. But this does not mean that the diet of the Mediterranean did not interest me.
This is definitely not a diet, rather a definite formula for proper nutrition, allowing you to have a flowering look and feel good. In addition, if such a diet and does not reduce ten kilograms in 3 days, then you can at least not add. When used properly, of course.
This is what I managed to find out after talking with an Italian friend and reviewing a lot of material on this topic.
The main thing is that the Mediterranean diet try not to call a diet. It is rather a way of life and reasonable nutrition.
Most of the Italians in the diet are fruits, vegetables, nuts, cereals and (can not be!) Food rich in carbohydrates – bread, pasta and other flour products! Moreover, according to the assurances of my Italian friend, to eat pizza, being a guest at 11 o’clock in the evening, is considered to be quite common. After I learned this detail, I realized that I certainly need to move to the Mediterranean Sea to burst the bread at night.
A very important ingredient is olive oil. Italians diligently flavored with olive oil everything that is possible. This can not but rejoice, because everyone has heard about the benefits of olive oil, which reduces the amount of cholesterol and increases the body’s defenses.
Fish in the Mediterranean are eaten almost every day. It is not surprising that seafood is eaten at some sea, which in the south of Italy practically replaces meat.
A separate role in the Mediterranean cuisine is given to wine, without which almost no day is worth it. But the culture of drinking is very high, so alcoholism in this country is probably not terrible. But the use of wine in moderation is very, very useful, because it normalizes cholesterol levels.
But meat and sweets are consumed even less often than fish and fruits. Although Italians rarely step on the throat of their own desires, if they want something like that.
The most plentiful meal here is lunch, which may consist of soup, vegetables, fish, and pasta. Apparently, they eat what your heart desires. Only here it pleases her, it seems, a lot of useful things. For breakfast in the Mediterranean serves cereals, eggs, various flour products. In the evening, it is still not customary to eat a lot.
Although, firstly, according to my Italian friend, they have a lot and we have a lot – these are different things. In Italy, oddly enough, they eat more than in Russia. And secondly, Italy is a hedonistic country. They love life, love to have fun and are unlikely to deny themselves something tasty if they want it even in the middle of the night.
Diet is not everything. To food in Italian benefit, you also need to live in Italian. And this means spending a lot of time in the fresh air, enjoying dinner not only with food, but also socializing and enjoying every single minute. Perhaps this is the benefit of the Mediterranean lifestyle.
