Many parents are afraid to give their child to engage in martial arts, and it is not surprising – the majority of them are associated with fights, bruises, bumps. This opinion is completely erroneous, and the ability to stand up for oneself has not hurt anyone, especially in our difficult times.
If you ask a trainer a question – why do boys and girls come to workouts, the answer, most often, will be sad – in order to gain confidence after offense. It would seem – what could be simpler – go to your school or garden, and go. Work out – and home. But communication with peers can not be avoided, and it is not necessary. Of course, it is important to make a compromise, but you shouldn’t try to shake it once again. For a child, there is nothing worse than the feeling of being helpless.
Martial arts develop in children a whole range of useful skills – the already mentioned confidence, strength, speed, endurance, flexibility, coordination, discipline. And also – purposefulness. A good wrestler is always and in all cases a leader.
Kinds of martial arts – a great many. All of them are divided into several groups.
Sports and applied. The first section includes those species in which they hold competitions. For example, boxing, karate, judo, wrestling, hand-to-hand combat. Applied martial arts are created exclusively for law enforcement agencies – they have no rules, they are designed to fight to the death.
Martial arts are wrestling – strikes are usually forbidden and they are not taught. These include: classical (Greco-Roman) wrestling, wrestling, judo, sambo, national wrestling. The most famous percussion martial arts – boxing and kickboxing.
Separate from the rest is a group of martial arts. The experience of the masters was accumulated and polished for centuries, and we can say with confidence that these are the most useful forms of martial arts for kids. In addition to the development of power, physical qualities, they pay a lot of attention to the development and education of human spiritual qualities. Most often, the teachers in the section are not called trainers, teachers. Of course, not every teacher will invest the concepts of goodness, honor and valor in classes with children, but if you can find such a person, then you should not worry about your child. With such activities, he will bring not so much the skills of a fight, as the confidence in his own abilities and respect for others.
Directions and types of martial arts great variety. Most often, children are given to engage in karate, wushu, taekwondo, aikido, exckrima, silat. Recently, capoeira has become very popular – this view combines wrestling, music, dance, acrobatics, and theater. Capoeira is a martial art created by black slaves in Brazil.
In our family, martial arts have always been. My father was engaged in wushu all his life and was even in the disciples of a Chinese master who had lived in Russia for some time.
I started practicing karate-do-fudokan as a teenager and did not quit even after giving birth.
But the most amazing story related to martial arts is my brother. The boy was born with severe dysplasia. In three months I did not raise my head, I did not sit down at seven, I did not get up at ten. His legs ached all the time and afterwards, every step was difficult. We rose through massage. One day the masseuse advised to give the child to a section of some kind of martial arts. We had a familiar karate teacher who agreed to practice with a boy. After half a year we did not recognize the child! Movement became accurate, confident, impaired coordination and asymmetry of the body leveled. Now our boy did not walk quietly, but ran, as if he had a motor inside.
Karate did not cure dysplasia, not at all. But it helped pull the child’s abilities to light, gave a powerful impetus to development.
Previously, children were not taken to the sports sections of martial arts before 12 years old; For such kids, martial arts are preferable, with a gentle load and a good complex of therapeutic and preventive gymnastics.
