After the birth of my beloved daughter, I was worried about such questions: is it gaining weight well, is it developing correctly and when will the first teeth appear. The question of our first teeth worried me the most.
Our first tooth
I was looking forward to the moment when I would see this little porcelain tooth. At that moment I was breastfeeding and thought that I would feel it, but there was no sensation.
We were 5.5 months old when I heard a ringing sound during dinner. The tooth grew long and grew only by 6 months. I didn’t notice the special anxiety of the little one when teething the first tooth.
When the second tooth began to appear, the daughter began to behave much more restless. She was capricious, did not want to stay even for a moment alone, drool ran down the stream. At first I didn’t understand that she could disturb my girl so much. I was going to call the doctor, but our grandmother gave me the answer in time: This is the second tooth cutting through – do not worry so much.
Later, I still asked the local pediatrician how you can find out that the baby is teething. Here are some of the teething symptoms in a child:
one. Reddened or inflamed gums in a child. Usually the gum has a delicate pink color, and when a tooth appears, it swells up and becomes bright red, sometimes even purple. In our pupa, the gum became red. It was easy to determine that at this place there would soon be a little surprise.
2 Increased salivation. According to doctors, the spit begin to run in a stream about 3-4 weeks before the tooth appears. This is due to the fact that the growing tooth irritates the nerve receptors in the mouth, and they begin to appear actively in the form of saliva. All our shirts were wet. It was necessary to dress them very often.
3 Itching and pain in the mouth of the baby. Our daughter began to sleep restlessly at night: she often woke up, cried a lot and constantly pulled her hands to her mouth. I immediately realized that it was her teeth that disturbed her. Literally a week later, the long-awaited tooth appeared, and we again began to sleep at night.
four.Fever and upset stool in a child. When the upper molar began to be cut, the temperature of the daughter rose to 38.5. Moreover, the strange thing is that she behaved calmly all day. And in the evening, right in front of his eyes, the child began to fade: his eyes were red, fell silent and did not want to go down at all with her hands. In the morning the doctor came, and the temperature was gone. The pediatrician examined the baby and said that the temperature had risen because of the tooth, since there were no other signs of the disease.
But you should not forget: if the temperature has risen above 37.5, it is necessary to call a doctor and exclude all possible diseases. This also applies to the stomach upset in a child.
After several such troubled days, I began to wonder how I could help my child. The pediatrician advised to spread the gum with a special cream that has a freezing effect. Frankly, I did not notice any particular change in the behavior of my daughter after this ointment. She also was naughty and pulled her hands to her mouth.
The only remedy that helped relieve the baby’s pain is a special teether with coolant inside. I literally for 5-7 minutes put the teether on the fridge, rinsed it under water and gave it to my daughter so that she nibbled it with pleasure.
And how did you survive the first teeth? How did you help your child with these unpleasant feelings?
