The basic principles of hardening, kids

Once I tried to temper. It consisted in the fact that after taking a shower I turned off the hot water and poured ice on the stream. Naturally, I really did not like it, and soon I hated this activity. Repeated returning to the topic of hardening was forced by frequent colds in my children.

Hardening procedures

Of course, I immediately realized that the icy shower has nothing to do with hardening. After all, such procedures include a whole range of actions.

Walking You need to walk in any weather and at any time of the year, with the exception of thunderstorms, high winds, snowfall and extremely low temperatures. As for the latter, I learned the opinion of many moms, and also consulted with our pediatrician. But it never came to a single conclusion. This winter we even went out to -35, but it was not a walk, but a necessity. And I think you can walk to -20-25 degrees.

Healthy microclimate in the house. It is recommended to maintain the temperature at 20-23 degrees, and during sleep to reduce to 18. In fact, very few people follow this principle. I am already tired of scolding my husband, because I open the air vents with maniacal persistence and air. But I can proudly say that we are at home 22-24, and before bedtime I try to bring down to 18-20.

I myself have become so accustomed to such a temperature regime that it is hot everywhere now. And we have alpine vents installed at home. These are the valves in each room, made in the wall, and in the kitchen installed hood. That is, from the rooms comes the flow of air, and in the kitchen it goes out into the street and it turns out that everything is ventilated 24 hours a day.


Water treatment. It is not necessary to keep the baby in the bath with cold water. You can start with a simple wash with cool water, then wipe the child with a wet towel to the waist. You can drench the legs after bathing. Start from 28 degrees and gradually reduce to 16-18. You can also pour the baby completely after bathing with water of 24-25 degrees.

We were engaged in douche in the summer, and then this business was abandoned. But then we all go to the pool, which I consider to be the best kind of hardening.

Sun baths. You can undress the baby before swimming at a temperature of 20-22 degrees. Starting the time of sunbathing should be from 5 minutes and gradually increase. Just do not forget about the hat and sun cream.

Walking barefoot. Walking bare feet can be on the sand, pebbles, grass. The main thing to monitor the cleanliness of these surfaces. We go barefoot even at home, although grandma regularly gives us socks and sneakers.

Remember that hardening must begin when the child is completely healthy.
The process should go gradually.
If the child is sick, everything must start over.
