When I was pregnant, my husband and I often liked to dream about who our son will become when he grows up. The future father planned to give it to the box, I protested, considering that there are sports much calmer and more interesting. We converged only in one desire – that he grew up healthy, strong and athletic.
The benefits of sports activities for the baby
I hold the opinion that sport should be an integral part in a person’s life from the very birth. It strengthens health, fosters strength of mind, teaches patience, develops the child’s physical and mental skills. But, instilling a kid to the sport, it is important to select exercises that correspond to the level of his development and his abilities.
I tried to develop the love for sports activities of my son very early from the simplest exercises: turning the head, finger games. Closer to the year class, the lessons have become much more interesting and more difficult, therefore I want to tell about the peculiarities of this age period.
The purpose of my classes with my one-year-old son was to consolidate and improve his skills. I wanted to help him learn to control his body, walk more confidently.
After each sleep (no matter, night or day), without getting up from the bed, we did exercises. It included the simplest exercises, not tiring baby. By the time she took no more than two minutes, because with the help of these exercises I only helped the baby to wake up and get a charge of cheerfulness.
As part of the exercises for charging, I included flexing and extending the arms and legs of the child, clapping hands, alternately raising and lowering the arms and legs, circular movements of the arms and legs, as well as our favorite snags.
When doing the last exercise, the child quite stretched the arms up, and with his legs stretched down. At that time I was holding with my palms from the tips of the fingers on my hands to the tips of the fingers on the feet of the baby. He really liked it. By the way, the love for all these exercises my son has remained to this day.
About 20 minutes a day my son and I took to the classes with more complex exercises, after which he needed rest. We chose a time for this when Egor was active and pleased. Sometimes in the case of his rapid fatigue, they divided the classes into several short-term ones and distributed them all day. I will describe some of the most favorite exercises of the son.
Obstacle course – my son needed to go from the beginning to the end of the room, but on his way I laid out the objects through which I had to step over. These were soft cubes and small toys. So the kid improved his walking skills and at the same time learned to control the body.
Exercises with a stick – my son and I simultaneously held on to a wooden stick about 50 centimeters long and about 1 centimeter in diameter. Then I raised my wand up, and he had to hold on to it, even when his legs broke off from the floor. After a couple of seconds, I lowered my wand. We did this exercise only with dad’s safety net, because at any moment the son could open his hands and fall. Sometimes in this way, we would bend forward while sitting and standing.
Exercises with a ball – included pushing the ball with their feet and hands, throws and the first attempts to catch the ball. We started with the simplest shots and throws. Then they began to organize the gates into which the child should have scored balls of different sizes.
Also in this group of exercises I will take classes on the big gym ball. Lying and sitting on such a ball made a great contribution to teaching your baby to balance and control his body.
Results of sports activities
After a month of such classes, our son began to keep his balance better, he stopped stumbling and falling while walking. And I realized that the best results for a child can be achieved only by showing great patience with his pranks during classes, and presenting classes as an exciting game.
