Relaxing massage has a positive effect on the development of babies. Neurologists recommend to spend it on almost all babies up to a year. Moreover, if there are no serious reasons for attracting a specialist, the mother can do it on her own. I want to talk about how I did a relaxing foot massage to my child.
The benefits of massage
Foot massage helps to strengthen the muscles, the musculoskeletal system. It develops the foot, improves blood circulation, prevents the clubfoot. And also, among other things, massage – this is another pleasant thing, which can please and soothe your baby.
For me, massage is also one of the ways to communicate with the baby. Through him, I give him my love, tenderness, exchange positive emotions.
For the massage, I was preparing a place in advance: on a fairly hard sofa I laid a clean towel or a folded diaper, where I put my son. Then, with the help of ventilation and a heater, the air temperature in the room was optimal for the baby (22-25 degrees). This was necessary so that the naked baby was comfortable.
Before the massage, I definitely washed my hands so that no dirt or any bacteria could get on the baby’s skin. The skin of the child was then very thin and delicate, so hygiene was especially important. During the massage, I used a fat baby cream to make the movements easier and more enjoyable.
I started to carry out relaxing massages for the baby’s legs after he was three months old. Guided by the goal of giving the child pleasure, I chose the ideal time for this, when the child was cheerful and cheerful. It fell out on the evening. After bathing, I prepared a place for a massage, put the baby on my back or tummy and started exercising.
At the beginning, this event took us only a couple of minutes, then time gradually increased. And closer to the year, we began to take on the legs about 5-7 minutes. In the first months, I only stroked my feet with careful smooth movements. I started the exercise with the foot, then I stroked tiny fingers, and then smoothly passed to the shin and thigh.
From a conversation with the mother-in-law (who is also a professional masseuse in combination), I knew that only the outer sides of the legs could be massaged without affecting the inner side and the areas of the joints. After only six months, she gave approval for light stroking of the inner sides of the legs in the direction from the feet to the groin.
At about the same age, the introduction of rubbing movements began. There are new exercises for relaxing foot massage – Eights (massaging movements of the foot in the form of eights), Shoe (short rubbing movements resembling cleansing the foot from something), Rubbing fingers (using finger games) and Movement in the center (thumb on the center feet, I spent from the heels to the toe).
At the stage of completion of the massage, it was necessary to reapply only light stroking. When the procedure was over, I put the child on warm socks and gave him the opportunity to rest.
Until the year I was pleased with the baby massage almost daily. Exceptions were only in the case of illness or lack of mood in a child. After all, everyone knows that during the massage, the baby must be relaxed and cheerful. Now it happens less frequently, since the child is harder to hold in place.
Special preparations for massage are no longer required, I massage the legs of the son when an opportunity is provided.

Foot massage crumbs brought us not only a lot of positive moments, but also allowed us to avoid the frequent children’s problems associated with hyper tone. When on examination in a year a neurologist said that everything was fine with our legs, I was happy.
