My daughter is already a year old. During the first year of life, we together worked out our ritual of falling asleep for the night. Of course, there were a lot of trial and error, but today we have found for ourselves the ideal option of how to prepare for bed and sleep peacefully.
Our preparation for the night’s sleep
I remember we had a time when our daughter did not fall asleep until one o’clock in the morning. It was a difficult period, because by this time I was already exhausted. Of course, it was also very difficult psychologically, because when I put my daughter in, I didn’t want to sleep at all, and I only fell asleep in the morning. And already the new day began in a couple of hours, and the baby began to active. It was very difficult.
Today I understand why it was so. I myself allowed it – we did not have a clear schedule, and we didn’t always perform the evening procedures. And I decided to fight it out.
First, our second dream ends today not later than six in the evening, so that before the night’s sleep the child can get pretty tired. Secondly, an hour before bedtime – and this is somewhere around 9:00 pm, all active games are over in order to avoid over-excitement. Together we sit quietly on the couch, read books, play quiet games.
Half an hour before bedtime, we begin to carry out hygiene. The best soothing is a bath with some relaxing foam. Sometimes I just add a drop of lavender essential oil to my water. Of course, now we wash ourselves only once every three days, so on those days when we do not bathe, we just wash our face and hands with some water, we wash off.
Then we go to the changing table and apply a moisturizer. It is imperative that before bedtime I wash my daughter with a sea water spout so that nothing prevents her from breathing normally. Every evening we put on clean and light clothes, fresh diapers. Here my daughter begins to yawn slowly.
By 22-00 I have already prepared food for the child. Now for the night we eat the mixture. After all the water and hygiene procedures, we go for food together, turn off the light everywhere and sit down in absolute silence to eat.
After eating, I start rocking my daughter – we cannot fall asleep by ourselves. In most cases, only ten minutes are enough and my baby is already sleeping. I put her on the bed very carefully and for a few minutes I give her my hand, so that she knows that I am near and will not go anywhere. Here, in principle, and all – to 22-20, my daughter is already sleeping in a sweet dream.
Here is such a regime and the same daily procedures help us to calmly prepare for the night and fall asleep at the same time.
Exceptions to the rules
Of course, such an idyll is not always the case. Sometimes circumstances, diseases, weather, teeth are wedged into our ritual. Here and the schedule can move, and laying time stretch for an hour. But it is true, exceptions to the rule. Even in adults, not everything is always good. But we cope with it, and do not pay attention.
