This year my daughter and I first opened our summer season. Our outing was successful, because we had prepared everything and planned it beforehand. Except for one thing – they did not expect that mosquitoes and midges would appear so early. Especially in our area, they are generally quite a rare phenomenon. But this year, these insects caught us on the last day of our holiday and as a result, we all returned to the city bitten.
How we treated bites
My daughter was very itchy – her little faces and little head bitten her. As we did not try to close it with a special cape for the stroller, we could not save the baby from bites. Moreover, the child is already more active by the year and is constantly getting out of the stroller in order to inquire about the outside world.
On the first night after the bites, we smeared Fenistil cones with gel, since I always have it with me in the first-aid kit. But we didn’t manage to plaster our heads and we were actively scratching and sleeping badly all night long. My mother also offered to try a folk remedy – baking soda. We poured a little bit of soda in the water and rubbed the bitten skin of the child – it seemed to me that it became easier for the daughter.
By the next trip to the cottage, I decided to expand my first-aid kit and buy a remedy for bites. Of course, today for the smallest, you can choose a variety of protection options. These are sprays, ointments, skins, and even special bracelets that dress on the baby and scare away annoying insects. The only restriction for us was our age – now we are just one year old. And, of course, I was afraid of allergic reactions.
I really liked the option in the form of a bracelet. It can simply be placed in a wheelchair, not putting on the baby. It would suit me very much, because my daughter is pulling into her mouth, all that she is wearing. But, unfortunately, I did not find a bracelet that would suit us in age – according to the instructions, they are all intended for children from three years old. It was necessary to stop the choice on a spray which is just intended for the smallest. The main reason for the experience was the moment that the daughter can put it in his mouth with pens.
As a result, on our next trip, we armed ourselves with a new acquisition and went on vacation. I smeared my daughter a little face, and we went for a walk. The legs and hands have not yet begun to smear, and she also waves them so actively that mosquitoes do not even have time to fly up to her. Yes, and the last time we were bitten only a little head.
My daughter did not rub her face, I did not notice any redness in the form of an allergic reaction, and the walk went very comfortably for us. In the evening we thoroughly washed the baby and saw that we didn’t have new redness. So, the tool still helped.
By the way, at the dacha, our neighbor told us another way to save from mosquitoes – a few drops of lavender essential oil, cloves or lemon. It is necessary to put them on the clothes of the child. But here it is also important to evaluate the reaction to the oil, so that there is no allergy.
Lavender is always at hand with us – I add one drop to the bath so that my daughter sleeps better. So the next day, we dropped lavender on the stroller. It turned out to be a very effective way of getting rid of mosquitoes, I decided to use it.
Now, when we go on an evening walk, I just drip a little lavender on the stroller. And mosquitoes with mosquitoes fly around us, and our walks are not overshadowed by anything!
