In the process of growing up my child, I began to notice signs of hyperactivity in his behavior. He was constantly on the move, it became increasingly difficult for him to sit still. Attempts to calm down and attract his attention more often caused hysteria. Then I came up with the idea of using games that are suitable for developing attention and controlling motor activity.
Games in the apartment
I knew that further a kindergarten, a school were waiting for the child, which means that the presence of good attention and the ability to control their actions will be necessary. We tried to play in a wide variety of games. I want to talk about those who were taken by the kid with a bang.
The pyramids. To build pyramids, we need a regular children’s pyramid, cubes or several boxes of the same size (we usually use matchboxes). Next, the baby tries to build from the available parts of the pyramid of various forms. This game teaches the child perseverance, develops his motor skills and thinking.
Ball rolling. First, we install a chair in the room that will serve as a gate. The child must be placed at some distance from the chair. His task is to push the ball so that it rolls into the goal. So the kid learns to control his movements and understand what distance means.
Shipping. In the back of a toy truck, my child and I fold cubes or soft toys until it is complete. Next, the child must take the load from one back of the sofa to the other in such a way that nothing will fall out. This game also teaches the baby to control its physical activity.
Puzzles. Since my son is a little over a year old, he is not yet able to collect small puzzles. But I found a replacement for them. As puzzles, we use soft cubes with images that are folded into different pictures. This game helps to develop the attention of the child.
Hide and seek. My baby and I alternately hide in the apartment and look for each other. This game perfectly develops the ability of the son to control his body movements, because he understands that the slightest movement can cause a noise by which he will be found.
While walking on the street, we also had some misunderstandings. I wanted the child to play with other children, but the attempts to play in one place ended in tears and shouts. He was constantly pulling somewhere. He wanted to play with the kids, but only in outdoor games. Therefore, I again had to look for a solution to these problems through games.
Riding cars for a given route. As such a route, I chose a sandbox, more precisely, the bumpers that create it. The child had to roll the car in a closed circle. He liked this game so much that very soon he caught the attention of other kids. So now the kids carry cars around the sandbox, following each other. And this game allows them to develop their communication skills.
Pull up. The idea of this exercise was thrown to me by my husband, who is trying to captivate his son with sports activities. It turned out that pull-ups on the street horizontal bars contribute to the consumption of excess energy of the baby. After them, the baby becomes more attentive and assiduous. I note that when performing this exercise, you have to carefully monitor the child and not let him out of your hands.
Machine control. We are talking about a car that is designed for riding a baby by pushing off the feet from the ground. My husband and I did not calculate the height of this car, and it turned out to be big for the son, he did not reach the ground with his feet. Then it was decided to use it in another way: the child pushes the car from behind in such a way that it goes straight along the track without moving on the grass.
This allowed the kid to understand what coordination means. With her help, the son learns to control his movements and the force with which to push the car.
Playing these games, we learn to find a balance between the mobility and perseverance of the child. So far I can not say that we have resolved all the existing problems. But hysterics are becoming less and less, and the degree of involvement of the child in the game is gradually increasing.
