At the time when I was feeding my first baby, I had no Internet yet. I do not even know how I did without the Universal Mind, knowing the answers to all the questions. And I had a million questions, like an aspiring mom. But then (this was the end of the 90s — the beginning of the zero’s) was a real book boom. It was possible to buy a book on almost any topic. In particular, there were many books with alternative views on parenting.
The Book of William and Martha Serz Your Child
This book is an American family couple who raised 7 children, has become my bible and the main tool for moms. In it, I found answers to almost all questions related to the education of infants. Written in this book is often different from what I was told in the city children’s clinic. For example, the clinic said that you need to give the child complementary foods, starting from 3 months. And in the book I read that the child does not need to give anything up to 6 months, except for breast milk, even water!
The clinic said that if the child has a green and foaming chair, then you need to be tested for dysbacteriosis and treat it. If constipation is the same. And in the book it was written that in the first 3 years of a good chair I will not see a child, so his digestive system is only being formed, and it is not necessary to stuff it with medicines. I did not know who to believe. The scales finally tilted toward the book when my child vomited out the prescribed gastroenerologist on the basis of the tests submitted to Pimofucin. I then decided that it was necessary to endlessly treat a child and listen to experienced people.
Stop treating the disease! Treat symptoms
In the end, my child gained weight well. So, basically he was healthy. I decided that I would, as clever people teach, treat the symptoms. And not very active pills with side effects, but something more benign. If the baby had colic, I gave dill water. If diarrhea – and rice water. From constipation – prunes.
In general, with medicine in our city, unfortunately, things are not very good, there is not a single pediatric gastroenterologist who can be trusted.
For example, I found out that there are such pills as the Acipol, on the advice of a friend-doctor from St. Petersburg at the Gamaleya Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology (the friend gave the phone).
Atsipol: live bifidum and lactobacilli
The microbiologist explained to me that the acipol contains bifidum and lactobacilli. They allow you to create in the intestine a favorable microflora, which gradually displaces pathogenic bacteria.
And after that, I noticed that the child’s stool was not very good, took the aciol tablet, pushed it with a spoon into powder, mixed it with water and gave it to the child in a bottle with a nipple or directly from a spoon 3 times a day. A week later, the chair returned to normal. These pills are completely harmless, they are similar in effect to bifidumbacterin, only stronger.
A couple of times, when it was seen from the child’s behavior, and not just from his chair, that all is not well with the stomach, they were treated with various bacteriophages prescribed by the district doctor after testing. The district policeman is more intelligent than a gastroenterologist. Her treatment was much more effective.
But I found out for myself that the smaller the pills and drugs, the better. If you can do with dill water and bifidok – the best thing to do.
And I learned how to make yogurt at home without a yogurt maker. It is both tasty and healthy. From dysbiosis – the first thing! If you want, I will tell you how to do it, but probably in the next article.
